Position Overview:
The Risk Manager is a professional with excellent organizational and communication skills. You will have a high level of exposure across lines of business and have the opportunity to work with executives to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to which our investors are exposed.
Responsibilities:
Risk management set up coordination:
- Develop comprehensive understanding of key concepts for assessing, monitoring, reporting, and management of risk in private markets across asset classes and investment styles
- Coordinate risk management processes, tools, and metrics across investment teams within StepStone to ensure consistent approach while honoring asset class specific aspects
- Plan, design, manage and execute project in key risk management initiatives, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage the work across asset classes
- Maintain documentation processes and projects (creating reports, presentations, and diagrams) for internal as well as external communication
- Proactively identify gaps, risks, and trends. Prepare reporting for executive leadership and lead processes for improvement.
- Actively participate in team-oriented efforts; build productive relationships with key leadership across the organization
- Understand regulatory requirements and anticipate changes to help ensure proper alignment with internal requirements and frameworks
Establish and coordinate risk group meetings:
- Ownership of meeting coordination, agenda management, distribution of collateral and minutes
- Delegate action items with clarity
Coordinate implementation of platform risk overview:
- Acquire familiarity with Stepstone’s infrastructure that will be used to create group wide overviews over portfolios
- Work closely with team members to determine our content and timeline for the implementation of a platform overview
Qualifications:
- Experience in risk assessment, control design and development of control & process testing, and a strong desire to drive processes forward
- Proven project management skills with the ability to manage complex tasks
- Strong relationship competencies, demonstrated ability to collaborate, influence and manage through conflict and develop relationships to achieve successful outcomes with multiple seniorities
- Strong team player, and self-motivation with the ability to handle multiple work streams under time constraints and across geographical locations and ad-hoc tasks simultaneously
- Ability to build strategic partnerships with key stakeholders
- Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to convey clear insight and thought leadership
- Strong analytical capabilities
- High level of curiosity and ability to ask the “right” questions
- High level of confidentiality and integrity
- Experience with regulators or regulated entities as well as internal and external auditors is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree requires. Degree in finance, economics, or engineering preferred
- Citified CFA, CAIA, FRM is a plus
- Private market experience preferred
NY Salary Range: $110,000 - $170,000
The salary range is an estimate of pay for this position. Actual pay may vary depending on job-related factors that can include location, education, skill, and experience. The salary range does not include any benefits or other forms of possible compensation that may be available to employees.
