Position Overview
The Director of Feed Ingredients leads all aspects of risk management, product sourcing, and pricing/marketing functions, associated with the Feed Ingredients product line. This position supports achievement of the group’s annual business plan and long-term strategies by meeting or exceeding sales and gross margin objectives and controlling risk.
Leads development and implementation of the group’s strategies for supply, marketing, and commodity risk management functions for the Feed Ingredients product line.
Establish and achieve income goals consistent with division and company goals and objectives; develop and manage supply and gross profit plans to maximize gross profit and customer satisfaction.
Ensures systems, controls, and metrics are in place and functioning to profitably manage price and production risk to measure performance of sales and merchandising functions.
Execute a working knowledge of risk mitigation techniques and their implementation as they apply to the assigned areas while takingappropriate action to offset growing or pending inventory risk or price risk.
Inform key staff of current and pending commercial plans, strategies, and risks and gather input from other team members to maintain transparency in positions and overall risk.
Directs the activities of evaluating business partners, negotiating andpurchasing/selling products related to supporting sales plans and customer needs.
Manage growth projectsand business development opportunities consistent with the business unit’s strategic plan
Collaborates with group leadership teams and strategic partners to understand, monitor, and forecast impact of industry changes in feed ingredient production and market dynamics
Develops, leads, and manages the performance of the Feed Ingredients merchandising teams
What is expected of you and others at this level:
Provides leadership and direction through Senior Managers and Managers
Is typically accountable for the performance and results of:
A large strategically important discipline in an extremely large market; or
Related disciplines or a medium-sized function in a large market or medium-sized market; or
A medium-sized discipline or department in a major region
Adapts and executes functional or departmental business plans and contributes to the development of functional or departmental strategies
Decisions are guided by functional strategies and priorities
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred
7-10 years’ relevant experience required
Prior experience trading canola and soybean meal and international trading/export experience preferred
Frequent travel may be required
Relocation to the Toledo, OH metropolitan area required
