Responsibilities
  • Plans and consistently implements curriculum activities that promote children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
  • Helps children learn to think creatively, solve problems independently, and respect themselves and others.
  • Recognizes and considers each child's background, special needs, interests, learning style, and pace.
  • Keeps accurate, current records of each child's developmental milestones and progress.
  • Creates a developmentally appropriate classroom environment consistent with the company's philosophy and goals, including implementing the early learning curriculum.
  • Establishes and maintains a safe, healthy, and nurturing learning environment and strives to prevent injuries.
  • Handles emergencies, accidents, and injuries appropriately.
  • Understands and implements current state and local regulations and emergency procedures.
  • Administers cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid, including lifting and carrying injured children, using proper lifting procedures and seeking assistance when necessary.
  • Participates in emergency and evacuation drills.
  • Maintains educational materials and equipment by keeping the classroom organized and safe.
  • Notifies the Director of needed repairs in the classroom, building, or playground equipment and toys.
  • Observes, records, and reports significant individual or group behavior that might affect the well-being of enrolled children.
  • Maintains professional conduct with parents, staff, and visitors.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality regarding children and families.
  • Provides timely written and digital communication to parents.
  • Promotes and maintains good rapport and working relationships with other staff members.
  • Uses sound judgment and problem-solving skills in complex and critical situations such as injuries and accidents.
  • Uses verbal and written communication skills with parents, children, and staff.
  • Lifts, carries, and holds children in accordance with state and local requirements and interacts with children in the classroom and on the playground, including running, jumping, and demonstrating physical exercises.
  • Provides customer service to families to help ensure continued enrollment at the center.
  • Treats each child with kindness, dignity, and respect and uses positive guidance techniques consistent with company policies and procedures.
  • Creates a positive, structured, and safe classroom environment.
  • Reports to work on time to provide students with consistent classroom procedures.
  • Participates in staff training sessions, meetings, and programs as requested by the center and state requirements.
  • Meets or exceeds annual training requirements of local regulatory agencies.
