Requirements
  • An associate or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or a related field is preferred.
  • Two to three years of experience as an ophthalmic or optometric technician is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow precise protocols are required.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel between multiple locations as needed are required.
  • The ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with the healthcare team is required.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment are required.
  • The role requires maintaining patient confidentiality in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and company policies.
  • The employee must be able to exert up to twenty-five pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • The employee must perform repetitive motions involving substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • The employee must have close visual acuity for viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, and interpretation.
  • The employee must possess the physical, mental, and cognitive skills needed to learn, remember, focus, categorize, integrate information, solve problems, and make timely decisions.
  • The employee must be able to remain stationary for prolonged periods.
  • The employee must execute tasks independently, learn and memorize tasks, maintain concentration and focus, multitask, prioritize work, and interact comfortably with large groups of people daily.
Responsibilities
  • Obtain and document comprehensive patient histories accurately and completely.
  • Follow office workup protocols to support efficient patient flow and physician needs.
  • Determine visual acuity and perform automated refraction.
  • Administer eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions as prescribed by the physician.
  • Measure intraocular pressure using tonometry accurately and safely.
  • Prepare patients for pre-operative procedures as directed.
  • Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic equipment and instruments to ensure proper functionality.
  • Perform administrative and clinical tasks, including entering data into the electronic medical records system and providing direct patient services.
  • Recognize patient symptoms or inconsistencies in test results and report findings to the appropriate medical personnel.
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and company policies.
  • Seek instruction in areas of uncertainty and stay informed about evolving ophthalmic practices.
  • Travel to various office locations as required.
  • Help foster a positive workplace environment that encourages accountability, collaboration, and transparency.
  • Ask questions when needed, provide feedback, and complete job tasks promptly.
  • Align job responsibilities and projects with the company's goals and mission.
