Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to basic and applied research activities, including authorship of scientific publications, technical and agency reports, and patent preparations.
  • Publish in refereed journals independently or in collaboration with department leadership.
  • Supervise research employees and non-exempt staff.
  • Write extramural proposals with approval from senior managing staff.
  • Create and conduct experiments and analyze results.
  • Work with other researchers to use and develop end products.
  • Provide experimental data to faculty researchers, supervisors, and other relevant staff.
  • Request or acquire equipment and supplies for assigned projects.
  • Apply for grants and prepare materials for submission to granting agencies and foundations.
  • Lead and perform complex analyses of genome-wide association and high-throughput sequencing data, focusing on risk and protective loci relevant to Alzheimer disease and related dementias.
  • Design and implement statistical frameworks for integrative genomic analyses, including gene-gene and gene-environment interactions in multi-ancestry populations.
  • Conduct functional bioinformatics and statistical analyses of Alzheimer disease-associated loci and genes using computational pipelines developed in R, Python, or another appropriate computing language.
  • Publish original research articles independently and with principal investigators.
  • Collaborate with principal investigators on experimental design and analytical strategies, ensuring reproducibility and statistical rigor.
  • Suggest protocol changes that improve the ability to complete project aims.
  • Maintain active engagement with scientific literature and integrate emerging techniques in statistical genetics and computational biology into ongoing projects.
  • Supervise, train, and instruct fellows, students, and staff in computational genomics, statistical modeling, reproducible research, and open-source software development.
  • Seek independent funding from federal agencies and foundations for original research efforts with guidance from institute leadership.
  • Participate in and contribute to grant applications for large international consortium research collaborations as a principal investigator or co-investigator.
  • Perform genetic and bioinformatic analysis of Alpha-1 Antitrypsin deficiency.
  • Design and execute end-to-end statistical and bioinformatic analyses integrating large-scale genomic and clinical datasets within the All of Us Research Program secure Researcher Workbench environment using R and/or Python.
  • Develop and apply machine learning and large language model approaches to build interpretable predictive tools for disease diagnosis and risk stratification.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
