Requirements
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in resort programming, preferably outdoor programming or hospitality management.
  • Strong understanding of guest expectations in a luxury resort or hospitality setting.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to participate in outdoor and physically demanding activities.
  • Comfortable working in both office and outdoor environments in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
Responsibilities
  • Host and lead outdoor guest activities including hikes, archery, wildlife observation, and other nature-based programming.
  • Assist in facilitating private outdoor programming for individual guests, groups, and retreats.
  • Lead guided hikes up to approximately 3 miles while sharing information about the landscape, ecology, and local history.
  • Monitor and assess weather conditions to ensure guest safety during outdoor activities.
  • Maintain the outdoor trail network through mowing and vegetation management, spreading wood chips, and assisting with tree removal.
  • Operate and maintain outdoor equipment, including a utility terrain vehicle for trail work and activity setup.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and scheduled maintenance.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment, including weekly utility terrain vehicle cleaning during muddy seasons.
  • Assist with winter operations including plowing and salting driveways and pathways.
  • Step in to host activities when staffing gaps arise.
  • Maintain accurate records related to programming and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot unexpected operational challenges such as equipment malfunctions during guest activities.
  • Respond quickly and calmly to resolve issues while maintaining a positive guest experience.
  • Support a wide range of operational needs for outdoor programming.
  • Perform basic carpentry repairs and maintenance for outdoor infrastructure including platforms, bridges, and kiosks.
  • Demonstrate the company’s expected values, including courage, initiative, dependability, flexibility, integrity, judgment, and respect for others.

  • Knowledge of outdoor recreation, wellness programs, and culinary activities.
  • Knowledge of wildlife and plant identification.
  • Knowledge of local ecology and land features.
  • Knowledge of the history of the Finger Lakes region and Cayuga Lake.
  • Knowledge of outdoor survival basics, including fire building and water sourcing and sanitation.
  • Knowledge of archery instruction.
