Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 10 years of relevant experience, or a master's degree in a relevant field and 5 years of relevant experience.
  • An active Top Secret clearance is required.
  • Experience with weapon planning systems and subsystems, including deriving subsystem requirements for navigation and guidance systems.
  • Understanding of operational real-time planning and preplanning systems for tactical aircraft and unmanned aerial systems, and development of mission planning support systems for active and passive weapon guidance systems.
  • Knowledge and experience with software engineering processes, mapping data and sources, map-product accuracy and precision, photogrammetric development of mapping products, imagery products, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency product specifications, and production sources and methods.
  • Knowledge of guided-weapon accuracy and sources of error in total error budgets, including the role of mission planning systems in guided and unguided weapon-system error budgets.
  • Knowledge of targeting sensors and their operational use in weapon planning on tactical aircraft and unmanned aerial systems, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency requirements processes, and distribution.
  • Knowledge of Department of Defense mission planning systems, requirements, acquisition, integration, testing, and fielding processes.
  • Experience with air tasking order methods and processes, in-air operations centers, software interfaces, software verification and validation, Joint Mission Planning System, weapon fly-out modeling, network-centric operations in tactical data links including Link-16 and CNR/VMF networks, unit-level command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence systems, and network connectivity and interoperability.
  • Ability to operate independently on mission-critical efforts.
  • Strong analytical reasoning and sound engineering judgment.
  • Ability to brief senior government leadership.
  • Experience leading or mentoring junior technical staff.
  • Strong collaboration within a cross-functional integrated product team environment.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct reviews of armament program portfolios to evaluate and recommend alternative plans, improve systems engineering processes, manage and sustain technical baselines, and design and perform system-level tests for compliance with approved specifications.
  • Prepare and review technical documents defining, specifying, and recommending system and subsystem characteristics.
  • Perform program reviews to evaluate alternative plans, systems engineering programs, and test results, ensuring subsystem and system performance meets program specifications.
  • Prepare management reports and conduct technical presentations for planning, implementation, and corrective actions using sound engineering principles.
  • Develop validation criteria and procedures for systems and subsystems.
  • Analyze and evaluate results of major engineering weapon systems and provide operations oversight.
  • Support program and project risk management activities in compliance with Air Force Systems Engineering Assessment Model processes.
  • Conduct formal trade studies considering engineering performance, effectiveness, cost, producibility, reliability, maintainability, risk, and schedule.
  • Provide technical recommendations, reviews, studies, audits, evaluations, and analyses, including scientific and procedural guidance and documentation.
  • Support proposal analysis by comparing and quantifying proposed systems, components, and approaches for technical feasibility, compatibility, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Review and analyze Initial Capabilities Documents, Capability Development Documents, Capability Production Documents, Analyses of Alternatives, Military Utility Assessments, Concepts of Operations, Technology Development Strategies, Functional and Physical Configuration Audits, and Technology Standards Profiles.
  • Review and analyze system concepts and user requirements entered into the system requirements baseline.
  • Provide system and program engineering, technical support, and technical training throughout the acquisition life cycle, including development, integration, sustainment, deployment, fielding, and installation.
  • Analyze weapon and user requirements for derived subsystem requirements related to navigation and guidance systems.
  • Understand and support operational real-time planning and systems for tactical aircraft and unmanned aerial systems.
  • Develop mission planning support systems for active and passive weapon guidance systems.
  • Apply knowledge of software engineering processes, mapping data and sources, photogrammetry, imagery products, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency product specifications, and error budgets for guided and unguided weapons.
  • Understand national and tactical sensor systems, targeting sensors, and their use in weapon planning and operational use.
  • Support Department of Defense mission planning systems, requirements, acquisition, integration, testing, and fielding processes.

Odyssey lands NVIDIA and Samsung backing to build AI world simulator

Odyssey, an AI research company developing frontier world models, has secured investment from NVentures, NVIDIA's venture capital arm, and Samsung Next. The funding will support development of a general-purpose world simulator capable of generating infinitely long, interactive simulations from any starting point. Founded two years ago, Odyssey recently released Odyssey-2 Pro, a world model that can be integrated into applications across robotics, gaming, education and defence.
