Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in an Allied Health or related field.
  • Credentialing as a Medical Assistant by NCCA, ANSI, or ISO.
  • Two years of college teaching experience, equivalent to 48 or more credits.
  • Two years of professional experience in medical assisting.
  • Documented education in instructional methodology.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work full-time in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and teach college-approved courses in accordance with approved course descriptions and class schedules, including developing syllabi and reading lists and keeping each course taught complete and up to date.
  • Respond to and work with students, peers, faculty, staff, and external agencies.
  • Perform divisional and departmental responsibilities in the selection of texts and related teaching resources.
  • Teach thirty credit hours per academic year and deliver a range of courses within the assigned discipline in lecture, hybrid, and online formats.
  • Evaluate and assess student learning outcomes.
  • Provide student support, mentoring, and academic advising.
  • Develop curriculum and periodically review and update instructional materials.
  • Assist with program reviews and accreditation-related activities.
  • Plan and execute program-related events.
  • Attend workshops, trainings, and professional conferences to maintain currency in the field.
  • Recruit, advise, and retain students in designated program areas.
  • Select appropriate part-time instructors.
  • Schedule program courses.
  • Hire and evaluate faculty.
  • Establish and cultivate partnerships with local organizations and employers.
  • Arrange and supervise student internships.
  • Assess, evaluate, and continuously improve the program.
  • Use release time specified in the collective bargaining agreement to perform required administrative functions.
  • Attend and participate in convocation and commencement ceremonies.
  • Serve on assigned committees and task forces.
  • Attend and participate in committee, staff, informational, and professional meetings, including meetings that may occur during evenings and weekends.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master's degree.
  • Experience teaching medical assisting courses in didactic or clinical settings.
  • Experience with curriculum development, program assessment, accreditation, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Experience coordinating practicum or externship placements and developing clinical partnerships.
  • Experience supervising faculty or staff.
  • Experience using instructional technology, simulation, electronic health records, or online learning platforms.
  • Experience using technology to enhance the learning environment, including Blackboard, online instruction, or other modalities and software.
