- Deep understanding of compensation principles, job evaluation methodologies, market pricing techniques, and pay equity best practices
- Ensure all compensation programs align with legal requirements: FLSA, pay equity laws, transparency regulations, minimum wage. Supports pay equity and pay transparency reporting in Canada.
- Leads annual merit cycle. Conducts market research on salary budgets, supports system preparations, completes data audits, develops training materials and trains HR community and Managers on required process steps.
- Partners with Head of Total Rewards and Finance team on annual short term incentive payout and monthly accrual process. Responsible for timely reporting, HR data collection and audit of information to ensure accurateness and completeness. Manages other variable compensation programs by preparing calculation files, data audits, and coordinates payments with payroll department.
- Leads job description harmonization project by partnering with business and HR partners to streamline our job description depository. Creates job descriptions that are designed for use across all business lines and are consistent in format, style, and comprehensive in content. May perform job evaluations as required.
- Develops, maintains, and enhances compensation models, dashboards, and reports using advanced Excel skills. Analyzes large data sets to identify trends, investigate inconsistencies, and opportunities for compensation data improvements.
- May participate in salary surveys submissions and data analysis to ensure accurate market positioning.
- Conducts ad-hoc analyses, compensation reviews and approvals of new hire or internal offer recommendations, off- cycle adjustments. Provides advice and guidance to leaders and HR professionals in the interpretation and administration of all compensation programs.
- Professional compensation certifications (e.g. Certified Compensation Professional CCP) strongly preferred

The partnership was unveiled at the PDAC 2026 Convention in Toronto. The collaboration follows Natural Resources Canada's announcement of a $5 million contribution agreement with Exterra through its critical minerals research, development and demonstration (CMRDD) program. Minister Tim Hodgson confirmed the funding will support Exterra's flagship Hub I pre-commercial project in Quebec, part of Canada's broader Critical Minerals Strategy. Technology validation platform Under the partnership, SGS will integrate Exterra's modular pilot plant and analytical systems across its metallurgical laboratories in Quebec City, Lakefield (Ontario), and Burnaby (British Columbia). This creates an independent validation platform for testing Exterra's on-site chemical regeneration technology, which aims to reduce reagent costs and environmental impacts compared to traditional single-use acids and bases. Exterra plans to invest over $10 million in testing, research and pilot operations at SGS facilities to demonstrate the technology's commercial viability and global scalability. "With SGS providing validation services, we are advancing a platform that aims to lower operating costs and reduces carbon footprint," said Olivier Dufresne, CEO and Co-founder of Exterra Technologies.
