Requirements
  • Vocational or technical training is required.

  • The employee must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently and stand for periods of time or move throughout the hospital campus.
Responsibilities
  • Develop familiarity with medications, including generic and trade names, methods of administration, usual dosages, dosage schedules, and conversion between metric and apothecary systems.
  • Distribute automated dispensing cabinetry with appropriate dosage forms, monitor discharge and transfer lists, and remove and transfer bins appropriately.
  • Deliver medications with appropriate labels.
  • Repackage tablets, capsules, and liquid medication; operate the repackaging machine; and assign expiration dates according to policy.
  • Handle and distribute controlled substances and investigational drugs.
  • Prepare topical and irrigation solutions.
  • Restock floor stock and automated dispensing cabinetry.
  • Check for expired medications in the pharmacy and automated dispensing cabinetry.
  • Inventory and maintain stock levels in the unit dose area and satellite locations.
  • Charge and credit medications appropriately in the computer system.
  • Prepare and initiate worklists and labels, and assemble drugs and solutions for compounding.
  • Initiate procedures and demonstrate aseptic technique when compounding parenteral admixtures in a laminar flow hood.
  • Refill operating room kits.
  • Prepare operating-room-related items, cardioplegia solutions, and syringes using aseptic technique.
  • Maintain stock in the operating room pharmacy and complete all operating-room-related charging and documentation.
  • Prepare oral and intravenous medications for use by patients in the clinic.
  • Assist the pharmacist in preparing chemotherapeutic agents for clinic patients.
  • Assist the pharmacist in preparing investigational medications in the clinic and complete all oncology-related charging and documentation.
Desired Qualifications
  • Enrollment in an accredited pharmacy degree program and completion of the second year is preferred.

Beth Israel Lahey Health rolls out Heidi's AI scribing to all physicians after 90% report better patient presence

Beth Israel Lahey Health is rolling out Heidi's ambient AI scribing tool to all its physicians following a successful trial across its facilities. The health system, which serves over 6,000 providers across 14 hospitals and 175 primary care practices, prioritises addressing physician burnout, with nearly half of US physicians reporting burnout. During a six-month trial offering Heidi to 1,000 providers, the majority adopted the technology. Survey results showed 89% were satisfied with note quality, 90% felt more present with patients, 74% reduced after-hours work time, and 82% experienced reduced cognitive load during visits. The implementation demonstrates how ambient AI can deliver immediate relief to physicians whilst benefiting patients and the healthcare system. Heidi supports over 2 million consultations weekly globally and has raised $96.6 million from investors including Point72 Private Investments and Blackbird.
