Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience: at least 10 years of relevant experience relating to the defined responsibilities.
  • At least 5 years experience working in the satellite communications industry would be an asset.
  • Experience and expertise in formal, standards-based Systems Engineering should be highlighted in the application.
  • Any industry recognized certificates of achievement relating to this position should be highlighted in the application.
  • Model Based Systems Engineering experience is an asset.
  • Fluent in English, written and oral.
  • The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP).
  • Experience with JAMA, Sharepoint, Confluence is expected.
Responsibilities
  • Characterize and analyze system performance. Develop and maintain performance budgets on specific aspects of the system.
  • Provide technical support to regulatory, coordination, and market access teams and provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and those with less domain specific knowledge. You will on occasion be expected to prepare and deliver presentations to the Telesat technical community.
  • Maintain, update, ensure correctness and completeness of all the Air-Interface documentation on the Telesat Lightspeed program. This includes ensuring that verification plans and procedures being developed by the Telesat verification teams are fit for purpose.
  • Develop, maintain, propose System level technical budgets for the Lightspeed program that can be used to allocate requirements pre-CDR, and track expected compliance to the requirements post-CDR.
  • Provide input to System level requirements to assist the team bringing the requirements baseline to a stable level by System CDR; scheduled for 1st quarter 2026.
  • As this is a senior technical role in Systems Engineering the candidate will be expected to share their knowledge and experience with the more junior members of the team and work constructively with the senior staff engineers to manage issues and set direction on an as required basis.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with RF digital communications or Network Engineering would be an asset.
  • Model Based Systems Engineering experience would be an asset.
  • Industry recognized certificates of achievement relating to this position would be an asset.
  • Experience with JAMA, Sharepoint, Confluence is preferable or expected.
