As a Flight Simulation Engineer at Reliable Robotics, you will be a core contributor to the design and development of the simulation platform that enables autonomous operation of highly complex systems. Our simulator drives our development, verification, and certification activities, powering everything from high fidelity hardware-in-the-loop testbeds to massively-parallel Monte Carlo scenarios running in the cloud. It provides fast and accurate feedback on the behavior of our system through a wide variety of flight plans, environmental conditions, and system faults.
We are seeking a candidate who is interested in expanding any or all aspects of our simulation software, including framework performance, flight dynamics modeling, hardware emulation, and simulation-based test infrastructure.
Responsibilities
In your role as Flight Simulation Engineer, you will lead projects to develop a robust, deterministic, and scalable software simulation framework to accelerate testing of safety-critical systems. You’ll work closely with stakeholders, including flight software, guidance/navigation/control, and hardware test engineers to expand our simulation system. Your work will improve the simulation’s core architecture, including performance, reproducibility, and flexibility. You’ll evaluate and drive key project decisions while mentoring team members to improve their own skills.
Basic Success Criteria
- 5+ years of experience developing simulation system software in an aviation, automotive, or comparable environment
- Experience validating simulation models against system test data
- Demonstrated ability to work in a self-directed manner in a fast-paced environment
- Proven track record working with and leading cross-functional teams to drive results
Preferred Success Criteria
- 7+ years developing software in C or C++
- Experience developing software and simulations for embedded, high performance, or safety critical applications
- Experience modeling aircraft dynamics
- Experience developing and validating aerodynamic databases
- Experience working in a DO-178 environment
- Experience developing products from concept to launch
Every new feature implemented at Reliable Robotics runs in simulation before it touches an airplane. In this role, you can be a key architect and implementer of that simulation system. You’ll be involved in projects across the company to enable their path to production.
Must be willing to travel 10% of the time.
The estimated salary range for this position is $162,500 to $248,500/annual salary + cash and stock option awards + benefits. At Reliable Robotics, we strive to provide competitive and rewarding compensation based on experience and expertise, as well as market conditions, location, and pay equity.
