Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, business, or technical discipline.
  • IAT II professional certification, requiring Security+ or an equivalent certification and continuing education.
  • Experience with the Risk Management Framework and ICD 705 Sensitive Compartmented Information standards.
  • Five years of experience installing, configuring, and upgrading security software; securing networks using firewalls, Intrusion Prevention Systems, Intrusion Detection Systems, password protection, Access Control Lists, Virtual Local Area Networks, and network hardening; and implementing patch management, Security Technical Implementation Guides, and information assurance vulnerability alerts or bulletins.
  • Three years of experience responding to privacy breaches and malware threats, serving as a security expert and conducting training, and drafting policies and guidelines.
  • One year of experience in system administration or security roles; networking and system administration, including TCP/IP and firewalls; and firewall and endpoint security system maintenance and functionality.
  • A minimum Top Secret security clearance or higher, with the ability to obtain Top Secret with Sensitive Compartmented Information.
  • If the required education and experience qualifications are not met, nine years of professional technical activities related to Information Technology may be considered equivalent, with the specified portions demonstrating the required security experience.
Responsibilities
  • Analyze IT specifications to assess potential security risks and identify and address vulnerabilities.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade security software.
  • Implement network security measures using firewalls, Intrusion Prevention Systems, Intrusion Detection Systems, password protection, Access Control Lists, Virtual Local Area Networks, and network hardening techniques.
  • Develop and implement secure frameworks and risk management methodologies using patch management, Security Technical Implementation Guides, and information assurance vulnerability alerts and bulletins.
  • Design and implement data recovery plans to preserve the integrity and availability of critical information during disasters or security incidents.
  • Respond to privacy breaches and malware threats using incident response protocols.
  • Serve as a security expert and conduct training sessions on security best practices.
  • Draft and refine security policies and guidelines aligned with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
