Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Proficiency with Bash, Python, or a UNIX-oriented scripting language, particularly for automation.
  • At least 6 years of systems administration experience in a small to medium-sized business IT team.
  • Experience working as a system administrator in a Linux environment.
  • Familiarity with basic networking, including IP addresses, routing, and firewalls.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools.
  • A United States security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Responsibilities
  • Design and manage the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux servers and workstations.
  • Provide technical support for computer network issues.
  • Collaborate with others to resolve information technology issues.
  • Design integrated computer systems.
  • Test computer hardware performance.
  • Test software performance.
  • Document operational activities.
  • Install computer hardware.
  • Install new or rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage in accordance with best practices.
  • Perform system monitoring, integrity verification, and availability checks for hardware, server resources, and key processes.
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify intrusions.
  • Create, execute, and maintain a data backup plan.
  • Ensure all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to appropriate media.
  • Create, change, and delete user accounts as required.
  • Manage hardware and software assets and deploy them for new and existing employees.
  • Provide help desk support and resolve issues for end users.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • 10 years of systems administration experience.
  • Experience with Ansible.
  • CompTIA Linux+ certification.
  • Experience working in an Enterprise Linux environment with any distribution.
  • Experience with LUKS encryption and LVM management at scale.
  • SELinux or AppArmor endpoint management.
  • Containerization experience with Docker or an equivalent technology.
  • Server endpoint automation and deployment with Kubernetes or an equivalent technology.
  • CompTIA Server+ certification.
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer certification.
