Position Description:
The Facilities Intern will assist the Facilities Manager with the operation and maintenance of the Durham facility, learning, performing, and developing projects throughout the Durham office.
Learn and perform preventative maintenance tasks for HVAC, facilities, and utilities equipment.
Learn and perform customer service skills and daily Facilities Specialist operations.
Support Facilities investigating and troubleshooting equipment malfunctions.
Interface with cross functional teams in the development of project goals, scopes, and action plans.
Learn tasks working with Health/Safety/Environmental, Operations, Finance, and Quality organizations.
Learn to multitask, keep proper documentation, and GMP skills.
Learn and develop LEAN, cLEAN, and six sigma skills.
Education level: expect the candidate to have at least one year of college/trade school complete and working towards:
Certifications in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, other trades applicable to career path/desired industry
Two Year Associates in Facilities management
Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Maintenance, Business, Management, Accounting, Engineering.
Certifications in Project Management (PMP), Facilities Management (IFMA)

The Alcon team is looking for a talented and motivated intern to join us onsite for 10-12 weeks in Summer 2024 at the Durham, NC location.
Alcon interns will have the opportunity to not only gain industry experience and network with other Alcon professionals. They will also have the chance to make a real-world impact by working on meaningful projects that will help patients and customers see brilliantly. Alcon also offers interns personal and professional development, high visibility and coaching and mentoring opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications:
·Must be enrolled in an accredited university or college for at least one semester prior to internship or co-op, and at least one additional semester following internship or co-op.
·Must be pursuing at least a bachelor’s level degree in Facilities Management, Maintenance, Business, Management, Accounting, Engineering or related major.
·Academic performance: Minimum cumulative GPA 2.8/4.0
·Demonstrated leadership skills (i.e. extracurricular activities or projects)
·Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship (students on an F1 visa with CPT may be accommodated)
·Ability to commit to a 10-12 week, full time (40 hours per week) summer internship
