Requirements
  • A Master's Degree and current licensure in Kansas as a Qualified Mental Health Professional and Master Level Addictions Counselor (Licensed Master Addiction Counselor) are required; if not currently licensed as a Licensed Master Addiction Counselor, the candidate must be able to obtain licensure within 90 days of employment.
  • The candidate must be able to establish relationships with individuals and organizations of influence within the social services community, including civic groups, charitable agencies, related government entities, and fundraising sources.
  • The candidate must provide dependable transportation and maintain a current driver's license and auto insurance.
  • The candidate must successfully complete required background screenings, including criminal history and Kansas Child Abuse/Neglect Registry clearance.
  • The candidate must be proficient in using technology, including Microsoft Office.
  • The candidate must demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive, community-based therapy and other community-based services, including case management as needed, to adult consumers with severe and persistent mental illness who may have a co-occurring substance use disorder and frequent contact with criminal justice entities.
  • Provide mental health, dual-diagnosis, and substance use disorder therapy in individual and group settings to consumers and families as appropriate.
  • Maintain a caseload of clients and consumers from the Assertive Community Treatment team and other teams as needed.
  • Assist with developing diversion plans to help reduce or prevent hospitalizations and incarcerations and actively participate in team planning to implement those plans.
  • Attend daily multidisciplinary team meetings to coordinate care for clients.
  • Participate in researching, developing, and implementing emerging multisystem models and practices.
  • Coordinate community and mobile emergency responses with the Emergency and Stabilization Services team as needed.
  • Participate in on-call or after-hours responsibilities when required by the program.
  • Outreach to individuals in need of mental health services who have had frequent law-enforcement contact.
  • Provide transportation and accompany clients to and from activities or appointments to provide medically necessary direct care and support as directed.
  • Complete all required documentation thoroughly, on time, and according to agency standards.
  • Attend team meetings and individual supervision sessions as required by the direct supervisor.
  • Provide crisis prevention and intervention as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience in mental health, homelessness, or crisis services is preferred.
