Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is required.
  • The preferred fields are Psychology, Neuroscience, or a Computer Science-related field.
  • Phlebotomy certification is preferred.
  • No prior experience is required.
  • The role requires accurate, detail-oriented work; analysis, organization, and prioritization under pressure; confidential-information handling; availability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary; and the ability to work independently or collaboratively.
Responsibilities
  • Understand and interpret research protocols and procedures.
  • Participate in the publication of significant results.
  • Maintain an overview of relevant research findings.
  • Ensure that research is undertaken according to good research practice.
  • Keep abreast of current publications related to research methods, techniques, and developments.
  • Collect, prepare, analyze, dissect, and evaluate specimens or tissue cultures.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Perform routine assays, tests, and studies.
  • Calculate research test results, collect data, and perform statistical analysis of laboratory results.
  • Conduct interviews and perform neurocognitive assessments in person or virtually.
  • Coordinate study visits and assessments and supervise participants in person or virtually.
  • Supervise participants during magnetic resonance imaging, phlebotomy, and psychophysiological assessments.
  • Assist with subject recruitment and screening, informed consent, interviewing, obtaining medical records, administering assessments, and scheduling appointments.
  • Collect and transfer biospecimens between the Coral Gables campus and the University of Miami medical campus for laboratory analysis, and retrieve data.
  • Manage the laboratory and study budget and inventory, order necessary project-related supplies and services, and maintain study-supply inventory.
  • Participate in collecting, processing, and analyzing blood via venipuncture and saliva, electrocardiograms, blood pressure, respiratory frequency, and brain-imaging protocols while assuring quality control.
  • Manage multimodal data and assist with manuscript preparation, including reviewing, analyzing, interpreting, summarizing, formatting, editing, and preparing tables, figures, progress reports, and final reports.
  • Assist with supervising undergraduate research assistants.
  • Attend research meetings and pertinent University of Miami training opportunities.
  • Ensure that safety and standard operating procedures are followed.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
Desired Qualifications
  • Two or more years of research or clinical experience is preferred.
