Requirements
  • An Associate’s degree is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of related experience showing a progression of responsibility and supervision, preferably in post-secondary education.
  • Ability to resolve individual and group conflicts.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, evaluation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to partner well with colleagues both inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the state for work and occasionally out of state for appropriate professional development.
  • Ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the diversity and backgrounds represented by students and employees.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in the recruitment, selection, retention, and development of campus Public Safety staff.
  • Provide direct supervision to campus Public Safety staff.
  • Implement comprehensive emergency management and business continuity plans and practices on campus.
  • Plan, draft, and execute Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program-compliant drills and exercises.
  • Ensure campus compliance with the Clery Act.
  • Establish a threat- and risk-based front-line security staffing plan.
  • Act on guidance for physical security, including surveillance camera systems and electronic access control, in line with Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness standards.
  • Provide Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness leadership during campus crises or emergencies and liaise with the Executive Director of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness.
  • Meet regularly with the campus safety committee to identify and address campus safety concerns and issues.
  • Develop and support a campus culture of team collaboration and commitment to high-quality services and outcomes.
  • Assist in maintaining campus emergency notification systems.
  • Work with Facilities to schedule and coordinate events when public safety support is needed.
  • Meet regularly with the AWARE Team.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Related experience in post-secondary education is preferred.
