Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent and 1–3 years of experience facilitating education programs are required.
  • A strong interest in exploring and delivering Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and design, and Mathematics concepts, content, and experiences is required.
  • The ability to apply and carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations, especially at outside locations, is required.
  • The ability to quickly learn new programming and facilitation methodologies, including design software applications, machinery, and STEAM-related content responsive to client expectations or needs, is required.
  • Proficiency working with Windows, Google Docs, and basic file maintenance is required.
  • The ability to collaborate with others is required.
  • The ability to speak before audiences with comfort and confidence and engage diverse audiences in varied environments and locations is required.
  • A driver’s license or the ability to obtain one is required.
  • The ability to read and interpret operating and procedure manuals is required.
  • The ability to speak effectively before groups of organizational employees is required.
  • The ability to calculate figures and amounts, including addition, subtraction, and percentages, is required.
  • The ability to solve practical problems involving concrete variables in situations with limited standardization is required.
  • The ability to interpret written, oral, or schedule-based instructions is required.
  • The ability to stand, sit, walk or move across uneven surfaces, climb stairs, lift, push, carry, see in varying light conditions, use fine finger dexterity, and participate in physical activities is required.
  • The ability to occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds is required.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as the ability to adjust focus.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging and dynamic STEAM programming for youth, families, and educators participating in Education department programs.
  • Deliver revenue-positive programs both off-site and within the Museum.
  • Cross-train in diverse current and future activities and deploy them in response to requests from outside partners or clients.
  • Assist with the daily operation of major Education programs and initiatives.
  • Support Museum initiatives on a limited basis for unique events initiated by departments such as Special Events and Exhibits.
  • Track and record program activity and attendance by collecting quantitative data.
  • Safely operate all equipment and materials associated with programming.
  • Organize materials and spaces before, during, and after programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with open-source software and operating systems, 2D design, 3D design, or technical illustration is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
  • Some travel may be required.
