Responsibilities
  • Apply new manufacturing technologies for tooling, work-holding gaging, and automation support tooling to mature production and development programs.
  • Own and perform challenging, non-routine tooling, gaging, and fixture designs using standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Support assembly and manufacturing processes in East Aurora, New York and other aircraft facilities worldwide as required.
  • Use Siemens NX, also known as Unigraphics, to design cutting tools, fixtures, gages, automation support tooling, and test equipment.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers, Product Engineers, production shop personnel, and A&T Technicians to ensure designs meet requirements.
  • Support fabrication of complex machined parts and subassemblies by creating tooling, fixtures, and gaging for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Prepare detailed drawings for manufacturing fixtures in the Moog Model Shop, tool room, or by suppliers.
  • Explore new work-holding techniques and tooling to expand tooling and fixturing capabilities for automated production cells and advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Evaluate and develop emerging technologies in cutting tools and work holding for development and production machining, product assembly, and testing.
  • Coordinate with the Moog Tool Room and outside suppliers regarding the economic manufacturability of designs.
  • Coordinate with departments and team members to account for machining and assembly constraints and ensure designs function in the production environment.
  • Estimate tooling, fixture, and gaging design times.

Moog marks 75 years with new manufacturing facility. August 20, 2026 Moog Inc. is marking its 75th anniversary with a major investment in advanced manufacturing, workforce development and STEM education in Western New York. Company leaders, elected officials, community partners and employees gathered on Aug. 14 for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tour of Moog's new Advanced Integrated Manufacturing facility, a 150,000-square-foot center representing a $150 million investment in the region. The facility, known as AIM, provides nearly 50 percent more space than the operation it replaces and incorporates advanced machining, automation, robotics and inspection technologies. The improvements are designed to increase efficiency, quality, safety and product flow while supporting critical military aircraft programs. "Today's celebration is about more than opening a building," Pat Roche, president and CEO of Moog Inc., said. "It reflects our confidence in Western New York, our employees and the future of advanced manufacturing." Moog was founded in 1951 by engineer Bill Moog and has grown from a small startup into a global company specializing in precision motion-control technology. The company now employs more than 4,300 people in Western New York, its largest global employment center. About 30 percent of Moog's worldwide workforce is based in the region. Last year, Moog provided nearly $500 million in local wages, spent approximately $40 million with more than 200 Western New York suppliers and contributed nearly $1 million to local nonprofit and community organizations, according to the company. The AIM facility is part of more than $300 million Moog has invested in Western New York during the past five years. Other recent projects include the expansion of the company's Space Actuation and Avionics operations in East Aurora into a 120,000-square-foot facility for developing, producing and testing precision actuation and avionics systems for launch vehicles, spacecraft and defense applications. Moog also recently opened a propulsion clean room in Niagara Falls that is expected to increase production capacity by more than 80 percent to meet demand for satellite and missile propulsion technologies. Last year, the company opened a 13,000-square-foot Operations Training Center designed to provide hands-on training and career-development opportunities for its workforce. Over the next several years, nearly 1,500 parts will transition into the AIM facility, beginning with some of Moog's highest-volume products. The facility will support existing military aircraft programs while providing room for future growth and new technologies. As part of the anniversary celebration, Moog also announced a new STEM education initiative aimed at helping prepare the next generation of engineers, technicians and innovators. The company will fund 75 STEM scholarships worth $1,951 each - a reference to the year Moog was founded. The scholarships will be administered through four Western New York organizations: Buffalo Prep, Dream It Do It Western New York, Northland Workforce Training Center and Say Yes Buffalo. "Investing in future innovators is one of the most meaningful ways we can celebrate this milestone," Roche said. "Our success has always depended on talented people, and these scholarships will help create opportunities for the next generation of engineers, technicians and problem-solvers." The new configuration capitalizes on the flight-proven baseline model of the Moog METEORITE bus and its radiation-tolerant components to provide increased thrust and propellant mass without requiring lengthy development and qualification programs. The High Delta-V METEORITE is ideal for propulsion-intensive missions requiring high-energy transfers, large orbital plane changes, or frequent station-keeping. The design is tailored for missions where mobility and velocity are critical for tactical intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) and space domain awareness.
