  • A nursing associate or diploma is required; applicable diploma and associate hires must complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing within 60 months of hire unless they have at least five years of Registered Nurse experience.
  • At least 10 months of medical-surgical or acute specialty setting experience is required.

Responsibilities
  • Collect and prioritize patient health data, analyze assessment data, and develop, implement, evaluate, and revise individualized patient care plans.
  • Identify individualized patient outcomes and develop evidence-based, family-centered plans of care.
  • Implement care-plan interventions, including treatments, medications, emergency and resuscitative measures, and nursing care addressing patients' physical, emotional, spiritual, and social-cultural needs.
  • Evaluate patient progress, document observations and interventions, monitor multisystem data, and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of care plans.
  • Evaluate nursing practice against professional standards, statutes, regulations, and department policies while maintaining current nursing knowledge.
  • Integrate ethical principles into practice and address the cultural and diversity needs of specific populations.
  • Collaborate in nursing professional development and contribute to the development of peers and other healthcare providers through role-modeling and preceptor or mentor programs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, patients, families, and healthcare providers to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Develop and evaluate evidence-based standards of care, identify improvements in nursing practice, and support research integration into practice.
  • Consider safety, effectiveness, and cost when planning and delivering patient care and use resources efficiently.
  • Record patients' medical histories and symptoms, help perform diagnostic tests and analyze results, operate medical equipment, administer treatments and medications, and support patient follow-up and rehabilitation.
  • Establish or contribute to care plans, including administering medications, starting and discontinuing intravenous lines, administering therapies, observing patients, documenting observations, and consulting with physicians and other clinicians.
  • Teach patients and families to manage illnesses or injuries, follow post-treatment and home-care instructions, and manage diet, nutrition, exercise, medications, and therapies.
  • Provide direction to licensed practical nurses and nursing aides regarding patient care and delegate tasks when appropriate.
  • Precept new-hire staff and students and assist them in completing competency requirements.
  • Continue enhancing knowledge and skills in nursing management and the care of patient problems and conditions.
