Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least one year of front-office or guest-relations experience, including some supervisory training or experience, is required.
  • Fluent English is required.
  • Ability to frequently stand behind the desk and in front-office areas is required.
  • Ability to carry or lift items weighing up to 50 pounds is required.
  • Ability to handle objects, products, and computer equipment is required.
  • Ability to use a keyboard to operate property-management and reservations systems is required.
  • Communication, reading, writing, basic mathematics, problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, and training abilities are required.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays may be required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide timely and professional check-in and check-out services according to established scripting and standards.
  • Assist in supervising the front-desk function and ensure staff are trained on service expectations, hotel facilities and services, local directions, property-management and reservations systems, and safety and emergency procedures.
  • Monitor performance and recommend corrective or disciplinary action; alert management to potentially serious issues.
  • Upsell rooms to maximize hotel revenue.
  • Process cash and credit-card transactions accurately, including posting charges, completing cashier or other reports, preparing deposits, and counting and securing the assigned bank.
  • Check in and check out guests, answer phones, take reservations, and assist staff with job functions.
  • Issue safe-deposit boxes to guests when required and ensure the security of the keys.
  • Promote hotel services, facilities, and outlets; provide information about local attractions and directions.
  • Complete opening and closing shift duties and communicate outstanding guest requests or issues to management for monitoring or follow-up.
  • Respond appropriately to guest complaints and provide service-recovery gestures according to established guidelines.
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
  • Perform assigned additional duties, which may include guest-room tours, concierge services, and special guest requests.
Desired Qualifications
  • Some college is preferred.
  • Knowledge of languages other than English is preferred.
