Requirements
  • A graduate degree in Computer Science, Localization Studies, Computational Linguistics, or another relevant discipline is required.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas is required: Multilingual Communication Technologies, Multilingual Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning in Translation, Multilingual Artificial Intelligence and Organizing, Computational Intelligence Applied to the Language Industry, Localization Engineering, Translation/Localization Management, User Experience Localization, or Natural Language Processing.
  • A minimum of five years of experience with course or program development and delivery is required.
  • Knowledge of French and English is required, along with excellent oral and written communication skills in English and at least one other language.
  • Experience fostering learning through an inclusive and positive classroom dynamic, learner participation, and effective management of student participation and group interactions is required.
  • Experience with and demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives, including accessibility in online environments, is required.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team is required.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and teach online courses in the program, or engage in equivalent special projects or applied research projects in consultation with the Graduate Program Director and the Director of Technology and Innovation.
  • Participate in the development, assessment, and continuous improvement of the curriculum and teaching materials for the Master of Science in Applied Multilingual Digital Communication programs and other Technology and Innovation domain programs as needed.
  • Assume primary responsibility for oversight and review of courses undergoing online development in the Technology and Innovation domain.
  • Plan and coordinate the Multilingual Communication Technologies Stream, including its three-track capstone experience consisting of an internship, practicum, or applied research project.
  • Assist with related academic administrative activities as needed.
  • Serve on relevant workgroups or committees.
  • Conduct applied research in the field of expertise that contributes to the programs and informs curriculum development and program delivery.
  • Identify and apply for grants and other sources of funding.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Localization Studies, Computational Linguistics, or another relevant discipline is preferred.
  • Post-secondary course or program development and delivery experience is preferred.
  • Significant current and relevant industry experience in the relevant field of expertise is desirable.
  • An active applied research agenda related to multilingual digital communication and the application of artificial intelligence technologies is desirable.

Club M&A and McGill's Dobson Centre launch acquisition programme as $218B in Canadian businesses set for ownership transition

Club M&A Canada and McGill's Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship have opened registration for their first Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition programme. The intensive four-day course, running 27–30 October in Montreal, targets professionals and aspiring entrepreneurs interested in acquiring existing small or medium-sized businesses. The programme addresses a significant succession challenge in Canada. According to the Business Development Bank of Canada, nearly one in five Canadian businesses will undergo ownership transition within five years, representing over $300 billion in business revenue. Marc Deegan, founder of R33 Ventures, will serve as programme director. The curriculum covers developing investment theses, target evaluation, financial and legal considerations, acquisition financing, and post-acquisition transition. Instructors include transaction professionals, lawyers, tax specialists, investors, and entrepreneurs with acquisition experience. Admission is by application, with no prior M&A experience required.
