Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Proven experience (3 years) in application asset management, configuration management, or related IT management roles.
  • Strong understanding of software licensing models, application lifecycles, and IT asset management principles.
  • Experience with CMDB systems (e.g., ServiceNow, BMC Helix, iTop) and proficiency in data management and reporting.
  • Project management skills to coordinate inventory initiatives and drive process improvements.
  • ServiceNow capabilities and use a plus.
  • Certification in IT Service Management (e.g., ITIL Foundation) or asset management related certifications a plus.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive inventory of all software applications deployed across the organization.
  • Establish policies and procedures for application inventory management, including data entry standards, change management processes, access controls, audit procedures, and operational metrics.
  • Collaborate to define the necessary attributes required for the Application Inventory to serve its stakeholders’ needs and expectations.
  • Partner with the CMDB Administrator to implement and manage the components of the ServiceNow Configuration Management Database (CMDB) to store and maintain application asset data.
  • C0-create and maintain the data collection processes required to gather and document application attributes in support of dynamic application profile demands.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of application inventory through regular audits and updates, automating data updates where possible to reduce manual effort.
  • Integrate the Inventory with other IT processes like incident management, change management, knowledge management and asset management for consistency and efficiency.
  • Coordinate integration activities with endpoint management tools and other sources of application information.
  • Steward the communications and activities required of Application Owners and Application Administrators to maintain quality data and compliance with policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • Develop reporting mechanisms for stakeholders to engage with application profiles, as needed.
  • Provide reporting and analytics on application usage, compliance, and optimization to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with IT teams and business units to provide insights and identify opportunities for optimization, consolidation, or retirement of applications.
  • Emphasize understanding of how apps are used at HUB in order to recommend consolidation, optimization, reduction of financial expenditures and licensing utilization.
  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure HUB applications meet minimum standards and compliance objectives.
  • Establish a feedback loop with stakeholders to continuously improve the inventory management process.
  • Adapt the application inventory and CMDB to align with evolving organizational needs and changes in technology.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices, trends, and technologies related to application asset management and effective use of CMDB systems.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and provide guidance and training to stakeholders on application asset management practices and tools.
