Requirements
  • Bachelor of Nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing or currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree Nursing program with completion of the degree within 2 years for promotion
  • CNOR certification required within 12 months of hire
  • RN licensure by South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state required
  • Current Basic Life Support required, either from American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers or American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider
  • Must have scrub and circulating experience
  • Two years of work experience within the operating room excluding the orientation period
  • Extensive knowledge of the unit's patient population, health care trends, community and regional resources and service availability to these populations
  • Ability to establish working relationships with diverse groups and individuals, medical staff and other health care disciplines
  • Some positions require certification as a generalist in a related specialty area by the American Nurses Association
  • Must be able to complete new leader onboarding in-person classes and Frontline Nurse Leader Development Program within six months of hire
  • Ability to work rotating shifts
  • Ability to work overtime as required
  • Ability to maintain a latex safe environment
  • Ability to be physically qualified for respirator use as required

Responsibilities
  • Supervises one or more areas of a department and two or more professional and/or support staff on a day-to-day basis
  • Coordinates the business aspects of a department including strategy, project management, budget planning and oversight and financial operations as applicable
  • Supports and is proactive within the service line team/department to achieve unit and organization goals
  • Lead or co-lead the Working Specialty Groups and ensure care team members attended regularly and that opportunities/issues are memorialized in minutes and communicated to the Perioperative Operations Group
  • Participates in S3/RCA events including action planning, education and audits specific to the service
  • Collaborates with SPD leadership in a solution-oriented manner to create and maintain a culture of teamwork and safety
  • Provides staffing solutions to meet the needs of Perioperative areas in collaboration with other coordinators, charge nurses, SPD & Perioperative units
  • Ensures staff competency for the service line, equipment, and processes
  • Requests and posts job vacancies within the service via the FTE Request System and monitors OurDay and reviews posted positions daily for new candidates; interviews candidates within 1-3 days
  • Collaborates with Nursing Professional Development team for new hire onboarding and service-specific competencies training
  • Provides constructive feedback and direction to CTMs and administers equitable, objective feedback for yearly CTM evaluation
  • Addresses behavioral, attendance, and performance issues via the disciplinary process up to a written reprimand in consultation with the manager
  • Works closely with Perioperative Leadership to standardize and systemize PeriProcedural operations
  • Collaborates with leaders throughout MUSC Health to establish operating procedures, enhance clinical and non-clinical workflows, increase productivity, and improve quality outcomes and operational efficiencies across delivery settings
