Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience; an appropriate combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles.
  • Extensive knowledge of research administration.
  • Extensive knowledge of sponsored program regulations, proposal preparation, contracting, accounting, and finance principles.
  • Ability to research complex information and apply it to work-process improvement, reporting, and data analysis.
  • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
  • Ability to plan, delegate, and supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise a team responsible for drafting, reviewing, analyzing, and negotiating outbound subaward terms and conditions.
  • Conduct subrecipient risk assessments, including reviewing audits, in accordance with University guidelines.
  • Coordinate with ORA personnel, Principal Investigators, study teams, Compliance, the Institutional Review Board, the Human Subject Research Office, Technology Transfer, Risk Management, and other relevant offices to manage research initiation efficiently and consistently with University policies and procedures.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of applicable Office of Management and Budget circulars, National Institutes of Health Policy Statement, and other applicable regulations.
  • Use real-time dashboards to monitor team performance and ensure the team meets or exceeds Service Level Agreement key performance indicators.
  • Assess team performance using measurable data to drive accountability.
  • Identify process inefficiencies through data analysis and suggest or implement improvements.
  • Provide regular status and performance reports to senior management by tracking relevant data through University systems and other tools.
  • Provide leadership with metrics, including output and turnaround time.
  • Oversee, train, and mentor staff on the assigned team.
  • Partner with other departments to facilitate transparent and accountable research administration and coordinate documentation and approval processes.
  • Maintain effective relationships with sponsor representatives to facilitate communication.
  • Establish and continuously assess the effectiveness of internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.
  • Ensure employees are trained on controls and University policies and procedures.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Certified Research Administrator, Certified Federal Research Administrator, or Certified Human Resources Consultant certification.
  • Experience in an academic setting.
