- The ability to hear calls and instructions from physicians, department staff, and others is required.
- The role involves exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and requires universal precautions and bloodborne-pathogen-standard techniques.
- Receive all incoming calls and provide information regarding patients, hospital services, and events.
- Operate internal and external beeper systems.
- Handle all hospital codes.
- Monitor and respond to all alarm panels.
- Maintain the key log.
- Maintain accurate logs of necessary calls and codes.
- Provide after-hours registration coverage and support to the Business Office.
- Provide communication services through the Switchboard department.
- Register inpatients and outpatients after 5:00 p.m. on weekdays and throughout weekends and holidays.
- Assist the Business Office.
- Monitor the parking-area video system and alert security when necessary.
- Switchboard experience in a hospital environment or with a similar system.
