  • J.D. degree with strong academic credentials and member in good standing of at least one state bar.
  • At least two years of experience drafting, negotiating, and providing guidance on a wide variety of technology transaction agreements.
  • Great judgment, attention to detail, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Enthusiastic, hard-working, empathetic person, who enjoys collaborating with many teams (departmental as well as cross-functional).
  • Strong work ethic and the highest level of integrity and business ethics.

Responsibilities
  • Negotiate customer contracts. Each deal that we close is a step towards creating lasting relationships with state and local governments, and a testament to our mission of powering more effective and accountable government. We value building positive relationships with members of the Sales Team. Partnering with them, you will be responsible for leading efficient and effective negotiations.
  • Develop a progressive understanding of government procurement.
  • Review and negotiate vendor, partner, and other contracts leveraging strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms and conditions for OpenGov while maintaining positive relationships with all parties involved.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills both internally and externally.
  • Provide legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on legal matters. You will be integral to OpenGov’s success, but you won’t stand alone. Instead, you will bring a collaborative mindset and a commitment to work with colleagues across the company.
  • Conduct thorough reviews and analysis of contracts to identify potential risks, ambiguities, and discrepancies that may impact the organization's interests and document the same.
  • Continuously improve internal templates and legal processes to create efficiencies across the function.
