Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or GED program.
  • Two years of formal training, with one year of related work experience substitutable for one year of formal training or any combination of the two.
  • Three years of work-related experience, subject to the stated training substitution.
  • A valid Texas Driver’s License and a good driving record.
  • Ability to pass a security clearance check.
  • Ability to climb ladders and lift more than 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to withstand prolonged sitting, standing, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, stretching, lifting, and climbing ladders.
  • Ability to work in varying conditions, surroundings, and weather conditions.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in shift schedules and work locations.
Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanics and other personnel by providing training, technical expertise, and assistance.
  • Install, perform operational maintenance on, and carry out major repairs of commercial air conditioning, heating, refrigeration, and ventilation equipment.
  • Complete preventive maintenance inspections and make minor adjustments to keep equipment in proper operating condition.
  • Recommend corrective action when necessary.
  • Receive and complete work orders concerning equipment adjustments and repairs.
  • Repair and maintain electrical machinery, pumps, electronic and automated HVAC controls, low- and high-pressure boilers, and steam and hot water system controls.
  • Evaluate system problems and make recommendations to the supervisor.
  • Train, instruct, and assist mechanics and other personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
