At Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, we have a newly, temporary, non-benefited Cardiovascular Specialist position specifically supporting our Electrophysiology (EP) Lab. Here, you'll play a pivotal role in life-saving interventions, working closely with a dynamic multidisciplinary team in a supportive, collaborative environment.
Position Highlights
- Shift Schedule: Full-time, days, with rotating on-call responsibilities for 24-hour emergency coverage.
- Location: Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Winston Salem.
What You'll Do
As a Cardiovascular Specialist, you will provide efficient, high-quality patient care throughout electrophysiology procedures. You will perform critical tasks such as monitoring, circulating, and scrubbing during procedures. Working closely with physicians and other specialists, you'll ensure the success of both diagnostic and interventional procedures.
Key responsibilities include:
- Patient Care & Safety:
- Monitor and maintain patient stability during procedures.
- Ensure emergency equipment and supplies are ready and functional.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments as directed by the physician.
- Procedure Preparation & Equipment Management:
- Operate, maintain, and perform quality checks on all radiographic and monitoring equipment.
- Apply Universal Protocols for patient identification and safety during procedures.
- Set up and support ablation, device, and transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE)-guided cardioversion procedures
- Documentation & Communication:
- Maintain accurate records and reports, including electronic documentation and charge entry.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure seamless care.
- Educate patients and their families about diagnostic tests, procedures, and care plans.
- Professional Development & Collaboration:
- Participate in ongoing education and competency assessments.
- Support and mentor new staff members and trainees.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain a safe, therapeutic, and efficient work environment.
What You'll Need
- Education/Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing or Allied Health Technology program (e.g., Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy).
- OR graduation from a Cardiovascular Interventional Program with at least two years of experience as a Cardiovascular Specialist.
- Licensure/Certification:
- ARRT certification OR current North Carolina RN license.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (required within 90 days of hire).
Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to perform direct and indirect patient care.
- Strong communication skills to interact professionally with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to assess complex situations and equipment functionality.
- Ability to adapt communication to patients of various age groups and comprehension levels.
