Responsibilities
  • Own the function's AI strategy in alignment with the Executive Sponsor and business priorities.

  • Prioritize AI initiatives against business outcomes and executive guidance, and direct AI Engineer capacity toward the highest-impact work.
  • Challenge the organization to fundamentally rethink how work gets done rather than simply inserting AI into existing workflows.
  • Drive adoption and change management with the AI Engineer by creating communication channels, rituals, feedback loops, shared spaces, office hours, onboarding, and demonstrations.
  • Coordinate with Enterprise AI to apply patterns, tools, and learnings from across the business.
  • Build and bridge the Champion network by identifying and recruiting Champions, running regular syncs, hosting demos, and connecting Champions with Enterprise AI.
  • Build AI agents using no-code and low-code platforms such as Glean and Workato.
  • Author and iterate on skills files that define AI-agent behavior, refining instructions based on usage and sharing reusable skills.
  • Configure MCP servers and tools to provide agents with secure access to business systems, in partnership with the AI Engineer.
  • Own the function's fleet of agents and track performance KPIs, run evaluations after model or data changes, and iterate based on findings.
  • Replace or sunset agents when better tools or approaches emerge and help the organization stay current.

GitLab provides a unified DevOps platform that brings together the tools needed for software development, including code hosting, collaboration, CI/CD, issue tracking, and security, all in one application. It works by offering a single subscription-based platform where teams can plan, write, test, review, and deploy code through automated pipelines, reducing the need to manage separate tools. This differs from many competitors that require using a collection of separate products; GitLab consolidates these capabilities into one integrated solution, helping teams work more efficiently. The company’s goal is to help organizations speed up software delivery and improve collaboration by simplifying the DevOps process and continuously updating the platform with new features and improvements.

GitLab releases single-tenant AI and security suite for regulated enterprises

GitLab has released version 19.3 and expanded its Duo Agent Platform, allowing enterprises to run agentic AI inside single-tenant environments whilst managing credentials across their software development lifecycle. The update enables regulated organisations to deploy AI and security workflows within strict audit boundaries through GitLab Dedicated environments. The move addresses compliance requirements for data-sensitive customers but introduces potential complexity and cost challenges as the company scales AI features. GitLab's investment case hinges on whether AI tools like Duo Agents can drive upgrades and usage amid intense competition and slowing customer growth. The company's narrative projects $1.5 billion revenue and $186.3 million earnings by 2029, requiring 15.3% yearly revenue growth.
