Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing or an education equivalent for licensing is required.
  • No prior experience is required.
  • For Missouri work locations, hold Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association and a Missouri Registered Nurse license or a Registered Nurse license issued by a compact state.
  • For Illinois work locations, hold Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association and an Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license.
  • For Oklahoma work locations, hold Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association, a Registered Nurse license issued by a compact state, and an Oklahoma Registered Nurse license.
  • For Wisconsin work locations, hold Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association and a Registered Nurse license issued by a compact state or a Wisconsin Registered Nurse license.
  • Hold one of the specified infusion, oncology, anticoagulation, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or vascular-access certifications, including Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse, Certified Oncology Nurse, Certified Registered Nurse Infusion, Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certificate, Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate, Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate, INS Fundamentals of Infusion Therapy, or Vascular Access Certification.
Responsibilities
  • Support patient care by assessing and addressing the needs of patients and their families.
  • Work collaboratively with interprofessional team members to resolve patient and family problems, concerns, and issues.
  • Collaborate with other departments to establish patient and family treatment plans.
  • Individualize, implement, evaluate, and update plans of care and patient education needs related to vascular access.
  • Complete intravenous insertion and assessment, including peripheral and central line access.
  • Use point-of-care ultrasound equipment and intravenous infusion pumps as appropriate.
  • Interpret department-specific policies and relevant laboratory results to safely manage specific patient needs.
  • Implement, monitor, and record patient care and communicate patient conditions appropriately.
  • Take appropriate action in response to unanticipated changes in patient condition.
  • Use the Electronic Health Record to access treatment and therapy plans.
  • Apply evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge to nursing practice while delivering age-specific and clinically appropriate care.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
