Requirements
  • A background in Electrical, Electronic, and Power Engineering and 10+ years of experience in the shipping industry, classification society, or a similar environment.
  • A minimum Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university, or the international equivalent, is highly desirable.
  • Experience as a passenger vessel Chief Electrical/Electronic Engineer is preferred.
  • The ability to perform long-duration field work with extensive working hours.
  • The ability to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; move about office complexes or vessels; occasionally climb or balance; and occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds.
  • The ability to meet the specified close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception vision requirements and adjust focus.
Responsibilities
  • Direct and drive ship technical and electrical projects to completion within prescribed time frames and budgets while meeting safety and brand guidelines.
  • Liaise with operating department representatives involved in ship revitalization, including Hotel, Culinary, Marine, Design, Finance, Procurement, Human Resources, Information Technology, Shore Excursions, Revenue, Sales and Marketing, and Safety and Environment, as well as shipyards.
  • Ensure operational requirements and ship configurations are compatible with SQM and the established way of working.
  • Manage outsourced technical vendors and ensure compliance with time, budget, safety, and brand guidelines.
  • Link with marine operations, ship chief engineers, and chief electricians to ensure plans and designs meet operational needs.
  • Identify and communicate restrictions and compromises required by budget or space limitations.
  • Oversee and support the electrical aspects of dry-dock preparation and major-project planning, including electrical support, supervision, and advice.
  • Develop cost-reduction programs for projects.
  • Direct and coordinate procedures and regulatory classification and safety issues between newbuilding offices and classification and regulatory societies.
  • Maintain and support project budgets, including forecasting and planning, alongside project and technical managers.
  • Review and comment on project design proposals, feasibility studies, and construction plans.
  • Audit existing plans and prepare detailed reports as needed.
  • Visit vessels for familiarization projects and work being handled, as directed.
  • Evaluate new technology for fleet use and run equipment test programs with ship personnel as directed.
  • Support planning, installation, and follow-up activities across vessels with the Technical Manager.
  • Assist project managers and act as a backup for projects that encounter difficulties.
  • Maintain current knowledge of SQM policy and ensure timely correction of audit findings.
  • Assist with selecting and installing electrical systems and related class construction requirements and safety appliances to ensure regulatory, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Assist in supervising onboard projects and complete assigned special projects.
  • Execute high-risk and technically complex projects.
  • Manage up to five internal project manager resources and workforce project delivery for more than 300 workers.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and occupational well-being of workers during dry-docking windows.
  • Communicate and collaborate at leadership level to achieve project outcomes.
  • Develop and drive project plans for on-time completion.
  • Act as a liaison across departments to achieve an aligned final product.
  • Develop and review contracts to ensure complete project delivery.
  • Develop and review technical designs for technical compliance and construction safety.
  • Develop and integrate execution strategies across contractors for seamless installation.
  • Manage project budgets and implement cost-saving initiatives to achieve on-budget or under-budget execution.
  • Present and report venue health and status to leadership.
  • Create and monitor budgets, establish purchasing strategy, and mitigate costs.

Royal Caribbean completes $1.25B bond offering to refinance debt

Royal Caribbean Group has completed a registered public offering of $1.25 billion in senior unsecured notes due 2034. The notes, which carry a 5.550% interest rate, will mature on 20 January 2034 unless redeemed earlier. The cruise operator plans to use the net proceeds primarily to repay part of its outstanding floating rate term loan facilities. Any remaining funds will go towards repaying or refinancing other existing debt. BNP Paribas Securities Corp., BofA Securities, Inc., and Citigroup Global Markets Inc. served as lead book-running managers for the offering. The notes were sold pursuant to an automatic shelf registration statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on 29 February 2024. Royal Caribbean Group operates 71 ships across three wholly owned brands.
