Maxima provides an AI-driven accounting platform that automates time-consuming finance tasks such as month-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, and ledger operations, while sitting on top of existing ERP systems. It uses autonomous AI agents that work within a unified control center to independently prepare journal entries, perform reconciliations, run analyses, match transactions, and apply accounting policies, delivering pre-prepared, audit-ready data for review. Unlike replacing ERP systems, Maxima integrates with current data infrastructure and emphasizes end-to-end record-to-report with strong audit trails. Its goal is to speed and scale corporate accounting while preserving accuracy and governance, so finance teams can shift focus from routine bookkeeping to analysis, strategy, and financial insights.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • On January 22, 2026, Maxima reported $255 billion processed across 250 million records.
  • By June 23, 2026, it claimed $400 billion volume and customers including Rippling.
  • Max reduced Scale AI close cycles by three days and 98 percent automation.

What critics are saying

  • BlackLine, SAP, and Oracle already sell finance automation, squeezing Maxima's ACV by 2027.
  • Maxima's public wins center on Scale AI, Rippling, and Glean, signaling customer concentration.
  • A single accounting error or audit failure would destroy trust and stall enterprise sales.

What makes Maxima unique

  • Maxima layers agents over existing ERPs, avoiding rip-and-replace migrations.
  • Its June 23, 2026 Max agent handles prep work, not ledger posting.
  • Every output ships with audit trails and human approval, matching SOX controls.

Maxima raises $41M to automate accounting with AI agents and real-time financial data

Maxima, an AI startup targeting back-office accounting, has raised $41 million from Redpoint Ventures and Kleiner Perkins, valuing the one-year-old San Mateo company at $143 million. The firm aims to automate accounting tasks traditionally dominated by legacy systems like SAP. CEO Yogi Goel, drawing on two decades of auditing and finance experience, explained that accounting's primary challenge is fragmented data across multiple systems, requiring repetitive manual tasks. Maxima deploys auditable AI agents to automate these processes whilst maintaining 100% accuracy through human review. The company plans to use the funding to enhance product development and expand its 31-person team. Maxima's goal is to enable real-time accounting, allowing CFOs to make swift decisions in volatile economic conditions whilst freeing finance teams to focus on strategic initiatives.

Maxima Launches the First Agentic AI Platform for Enterprise Accounting

Maxima launches the first agentic AI platform for enterprise accounting. Maxima, maxizing every company's long-term financial performance by making their financial data accurate, accessible, and actionable through real-time accounting, led by Yogi Goel, Akshaya Srivatsa, and Jack Liao, has announced $41 million in Seed and Series A funding, led by Redpoint, Kleiner Perkins, and Audacious Ventures. The accounting function is under unprecedented strain: record-high restatements, record-low talent inflow, and rising complexity across standards and systems. After years of adding tools, checklists, and people with little relief, the field needs a new system of work, one that blends intelligence with execution, operates alongside the system of record, and performs the work itself with accuracy, real-time visibility, and full auditability. Maxima introduces the first agentic AI platform for accounting, giving every team four always-on AI teammates: two that handle daily tasks with precision and two that continuously monitor books and flag issues early. Work is prepared, validated, and documented automatically, leaving only review and approval. Enterprise accounting breaks quickly at scale, and solving it requires deep domain expertise paired with top-tier engineering. Maxima's founding team brings both decades of experience across EY, Citigroup, and Rubrik's journey to a $15B IPO, combined with engineers who built Netflix's $32B billing systems, Facebook's AI infrastructure, and large-scale platforms at Robinhood, Apple, and YouTube. This is the level of rigor needed to tackle one of enterprise software's most complex challenges. Maxima is already running inside high-growth, high-complexity enterprises like Scale AI, Rippling, SpotOn, and Bilt Rewards, delivering up to 80% faster closes, 95% workflow automation, and fully accurate, auditable outputs. Accounting deserves the same leap forward that other functions have gained, real-time operations with continuously updated data. This is the foundation of real-time close, where financials refresh continuously and decisions move at the speed of the business. The future shifts accountants away from weekend reconciliations and error-chasing toward a world where work is executed continuously and accurately by agents, with humans focused on review and judgment.

AI Accounting Startup Maxima Raises $41 Million as Investors Bet Big on Autonomous Finance Software

AI accounting startup Maxima raises $41 million as investors bet big on autonomous finance software. Maxima, a fast-growing AI accounting startup, has raised $41 million in new funding from investors including Redpoint Ventures and Kleiner Perkins, pushing its valuation to $143 million just one year after launch. The round also attracted support from Audacious Ventures, Joe Montana (NFL legend and Liquid 2 Managing Partner), and other prominent backers - highlighting surging investor demand for AI-driven enterprise software. Founded in San Mateo, California, Maxima aims to reinvent corporate accounting by automating processes such as reconciliation and journal entries more effectively than legacy incumbents SAP and Blackline. A new model for autonomous accounting. Maxima CEO and co-founder Yogi Goel says the shift is fundamental: "Legacy providers assumed humans would do the work and software would log it for auditors. We're starting from scratch: agents do the work, and humans review it." Although industry-wide skepticism exists - especially after an MIT study found that 95% of AI pilot projects never progress beyond testing - Goel says Maxima is proving otherwise: "We've processed millions of transactions for our customers and not a single error." Real-world gains for enterprise users. Joshua Waldron, Head of Accounting at Scale AI, told Reuters that Maxima has reduced flux analysis timelines from days to mere hours. Other major customers include SpotOn (fintech) and Rippling (HR tech), reinforcing Maxima's traction across high-growth enterprise sectors. Fueling product expansion and team growth. Maxima plans to deploy the new capital to accelerate product development and expand its 31-person team. The company was co-founded by former Twitter engineer Akshaya Srivatsa and former Netflix engineer Jack Liao, bringing deep AI and infrastructure experience to the platform. With enterprise AI adoption shifting from experimentation to real operational automation, Maxima's momentum signals a broader transformation underway in corporate finance - one where autonomous agents, rather than humans, may soon handle the bulk of accounting workflows.
