Requirements
- Previous industry experience is desired, but the employer is willing to train the right candidate.
- Knowledge of pruning techniques, including large shade trees and ornamentals.
- Ability to operate a chainsaw, chipper, stump grinder, and log mover.
- Knowledge of industry-standard rigging techniques and knots.
- Knowledge of native and introduced tree and shrub species and the characteristics of each species is desired.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and occasionally 80–100 pounds with assistance.
- A valid driver's license is required; a commercial driver's license is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform all required ground duties in support of specific job assignments, as directed by the crew leader.
- Assist with specialized pruning and take-downs, including installing cabling and bracing.
- Safely operate equipment.
- Participate in all job-site safety briefings.
- Perform proper felling, limbing, and bucking techniques with a chainsaw.
- Perform pruning from the ground with hand tools and pole saws, apply approved rigging techniques, and use standard knots.
- Assist with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties.
- Perform ground duties such as job-site setup and cleanup as required.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous industry experience.
- Knowledge of native and introduced tree and shrub species and the characteristics of each species.
- A commercial driver's license.
- Bilingual ability.
