General Finance Co-op

The Finance team consists of detail-oriented, highly organized individuals who oversee the company’s financial well-being while supporting operational and general business planning. We solve challenging accounting problems and provide financial analyses to determine key operational decisions within a growing and diversifying organization. We are dedicated to meeting new challenges head on at each milestone in Wayfair’s development and can adapt to changes within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Daily cash reporting and reconciliation
- Perform reconciliation of credit card charges and check payments
- Assisting in the centralization of invoice receipt and ACH enrollment
- Assisting with ad hoc audit requests
- Vendor invoice entry
- Issue vendor payments
- Filing records and assisting in any other miscellaneous tasks that may arise
- Review T&E submissions
- Interfacing with both external vendors and internal stakeholders in gathering & creating spend reports
- Work closely with key stakeholders to support in development of effective sourcing strategies for the relevant category in order to ensure quality of services and improve value to Wayfair
- Collaborate with other teams within Finance
- Review and research payroll tickets to solve inquiries by collecting data and analyzing
- Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes
What You’ll Need:
- Currently pursuing Bachelors degree
- Available to work July 10-December 15, 2023
- Able to commit to working 40 hours/week (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm)
- Strong Excel skills

Customer AR: The Wayfair Customer AR Co-op program is an opportunity to gain insight into the process of receiving and recording daily transactions deposited into the company’s bank accounts. This position will allow students to gain experience with maintaining billing systems, performing account reconciliations, recording daily journal entries, and conducting Month End Close to lock paid dates. This role will serve as direct support to Senior Managers, Senior Associates and fellow Co-ops/Contractors on the AR Team.
Supplier AR: The Supplier Accounts Receivable team is responsible for all of Wayfair’s suppliers facing business lines, including our logistics network and our media and advertising programs. Wayfair’s suppliers facing business lines generate more than $1 billion in annual revenues from our more than 16,000 Suppliers. Our goal is to provide our stakeholders and suppliers with the best, and fastest, financial services possibles through: 1) visibility into accurate financial information; 2) standardization of financial processes throughout Wayfair; 3) technological process improvements; and 4) holistic decision making, grounded in mutually beneficial revenue generating opportunities
Tax: The Wayfair Tax Co-op program is an opportunity to learn about indirect tax, accounting, and the key functions of a corporate tax team. This position allows students to gain experience with tax compliance & reporting, audit defense, tax accounting practices, and various software applications. The role will directly support Senior Managers and Senior Associates of the tax team.
Treasury: In Treasury some key tasks will include Daily Cash Reporting and Reconciliation, performing reconciliations of credit card charges and check payments, as well as reviewing Travel & Expense submissions.
CG Finance: The CastleGate Finance Co-op program is an opportunity to learn about Wayfair’s proprietary logistics network and help drive the growth agenda of this fast growing business. In this group, you will help lead cross-functional projects that help drive the growth and profitability of CastleGate business and overall network. This includes developing go-to-market strategies including pricing and value props, and cost/ benefit analysis.
Wayfair Co-Op Program Overview
Based in Wayfair’s Boston headquarters, Our co-op program is a six-month, full-time, paid program that runs twice annually in January to June and July to December Through the co-op program, students have the opportunity to gain impactful professional experience in their major or career field of interest by fully integrating with Wayfair business units. While the majority of Wayfair co-ops join directly from an academic program, some co-ops join us from varying professional and academic backgrounds seeking a six-month professional experience. In addition to exciting project work, Wayfair co-ops have the opportunity to build their professional networks, take advantage of training offerings, and attend social events throughout the program.
An Important Note about Wayfair’s In-Office Policy:
All Boston-based interns, co-ops, and corporate employees will be in office in a hybrid capacity. Employees will work in the office on designated days, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and work remotely the other 2 days of the week. We are continuing to monitor the evolving COVID-19 pandemic in partnership with state and local governments.
