Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electro-mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy and/or Material Engineering
- Solid knowledge and expertise in problem solving related to tooling and manufacturing processes of plastic parts including injection molding, insert molding, and over molding
- Knowledge of quality management system (QMS) requirements, (ISO9001, AS9100, TS16949 or a comparable quality specification)
- Minimum five (5) years experience in first and second party audits utilizing ISO9001, AS9100, TS16949 or a comparable quality management system
- Ability to read and understand assembly drawings, schematics, block diagrams and Engineering Change Notices (ECR, ECO) for specific inspection criteria and evaluation
- Solid understanding of receiving, in-process and outgoing inspection processes including statistical sampling, component measurement techniques, specifications and drawings
- Strong analytical problem solver; Excellent problem resolution, judgment, and decision-making skills required with thorough working knowledge of QC tools, methods and practices (DOE, PFMEA, Control Plans, Lean Manufacturing concepts, DMAIC, Root Cause Analysis, 8D Methodology, etc.)
- Excellent written and oral communication in English. Able to communicate at all levels within the organization
- Basic leadership ability and strong social skills towards global and regional cross-functional teams with a track record of delivering on commitments
- Experience working with statistical software (i.e. QI Macros, Minitab, JMP)
- Interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Proficient in selected Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook)
Responsibilities
- Engage in selection and evaluation activities of new potential suppliers, utilizing auditing of the supplier for their onsite quality, capability, technology and/or process related requirements
- Ensure flow down Axon Supplier Quality Clauses to its supply base
- Ensure that New Product Introduction (NPI) is taking place in accordance with criteria and inspection plans set up and managed by Axon Program Management, Design and Quality, and in coordination with Supply Chain purchase order requirement and clauses
- Lead DFx reviews and part qualification activities with suppliers on legacy part transfers or dual sourcing of existing production parts, including PFMEA, process control plans, development of capability studies, Gage R&R, First Article Inspections etc
- Participate in review of product validation by supplier (FAIR), and monitoring supplier establishing Process FMEA and production control plan (PCP). Candidate will be able to advise suppliers for an improved PFMEA or PCP plan
- Evaluate supplier inspection processes, provide recommendations and validate supplier's ability to determine part acceptance
- Evaluate supplier engineering drawings, where applicable, specifications, special processes and related purchasing requirements for process, product fabrication and inspection plans, and communicate/coordinate acceptance with Axon Design, Manufacturing and Quality
- Evaluate & audit supplier critical manufacturing & inspection processes, policies and procedures to ensure that performance and quality standards conform to established Axon Quality requirements and clauses flowed down to its suppliers
- Participate in measuring and reporting supplier quality performance, and control processing system anomalies, and non-conforming processes and products
- Issue CARs, Non- Conformance Material report (NCMRs) as needed, and deviations
- Assess inspection capabilities at the suppliers' sites as needed; provide assistance to generate appropriate inspection plans as needed, and evaluate any inspection and process capabilities studies provided by the suppliers (Cpk, Ppk, Gage R&R)
- Issue and drive Supplier Corrective Action Report (SCAR) to resolve issues. Participate in root cause analysis of supplier caused non-conforming product and ensure product quality concerns are adequately addressed by the supplier. Drive corrective action and continuous improvement activities that directly impact performance for assigned suppliers
- Participate in creating remedial activities for suppliers displaying low quality performance based on parts PPMs and non-conformances events frequency, in coordination with Axon Supply Chain and Quality
- Communicate and monitor any implemented corrective action, improvement plans and lessons learnt at the supplier after non-quality events. Candidate will communicate supplier quality performance level to Supply Chain category manager, and Axon Quality
- Monitor and provide feedback, trending data and metrics regarding supplier quality performance level to Operations, Finance and Engineering. Focus on identification and prevention of quality defects through poke-yoke etc
- Lead monthly quality performance reviews with high defect suppliers to drive defect reduction and report progress
- Manage Supplier Quality related risks; develop and implement supplier risk mitigation strategies as appropriate
- Manage Supplier change notification process for supplier quality related activities
