Requirements
  • A high desire for quality.
  • Demonstrated experience working in the field as well as corporate setting.
  • Ability to train non-technical personnel on highly technical material.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a safety conscious manner necessary due to potential hazardous chemicals and biologicals.
  • Ability to learn new robotic operating systems.
  • Must possess and maintain a current, valid Driver License.
  • Must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check.
  • Must have personal, reliable transportation with valid registration and insurance that can safely transport necessary equipment.
  • Experience in automation or similar field is required.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal, is required.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move approximately 60 lbs.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for new equipment installation.
  • Perform preventative maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and repair Hamilton equipment.
  • Report problems and perform root cause analysis on instrument failures.
  • Regular commute to and from customer sites with ability to navigate within the region. Must follow traffic laws and correctly route themselves, ensuring on-time arrival at customer site.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline from a regionally accredited, not-for-profit university preferred.
  • Or the equivalent combination of an Associates, Vocational, Technical/Trade, or equivalent degree/certificate and at least two years of technical experience working in an electronic/electrical engineering environment with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electronics, electrical, mechanical, and computer systems.
  • Experience in automation or similar field is preferred.

Takara Bio USA and Hamilton partner to automate NGS library preparation workflows

Takara Bio USA and Hamilton Company have announced a development and co-marketing agreement to automate next-generation sequencing library preparation workflows globally. The partnership will integrate Takara Bio's SMART-Seq library preparation kits with Hamilton's Microlab STAR Liquid Handling Systems. The first automated technology will be the SMART-Seq mRNA LP kit, with additional SMART-Seq products planned for automation. The collaboration aims to reduce hands-on time and errors whilst increasing throughput and reducing labour costs for laboratories, including core facilities. The pre-revenue partnership combines Takara Bio's RNA-seq chemistry with Hamilton's liquid handling automation to standardise high-throughput workflows. Takara Bio USA is sponsoring the Association of Biomolecular Resource Facilities Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh from 28–31 March 2026.
