Job Summary:
As the Senior Compensation Analyst you will be driving impactful efforts to evolve and scale our compensation processes and programs in alignment with our business objectives. This role will be responsible for all of the traditional analyses of a compensation professional in addition to partnering with the broader People Team to strengthen our organizations baseline knowledge of compensation and administer OpenGov’s compensation programs. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is an analytical thinker, skilled at solving new and unfamiliar problems, and is driven by a desire to meet business needs through a consultative approach for a fast growing organization.
Responsibilities:
- Comp Advisor: Provide business relevant compensation solutions and guidance to stakeholders. Includes compensation inquiries and recommendations for new & existing employees by partnering with HRBPs, People Managers, and FP&A to ensure that internal equity/parity, external competitiveness, and budget needs are met. Promote an understanding of OpenGov’s compensation philosophy and practices across all levels of the organization, while building relationships that result in a trusted partnership.
- Operationalize at Scale: Scale our processes and tools; you’ll lead a continually effort to operationalize and automate so compensation can scale with our growth.
- Data & System Integrity: Maintain integrity of compensation data and systems including internal job architecture, career paths, salary scales and comp ranges aligned with our compensation philosophy.
- Benchmarking: Benchmark jobs against external survey providers, and other market intelligence to determine compensation ranges for each position; provide summary reports of job and compensation analyses.
- Job Descriptions & Mapping: Prepare and maintain job descriptions for each position; ensure descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed by incumbents and are classified and mapped correctly (FLSA, leveling, etc).
- Compensation Programs: Administer our compensation programs such as comp cycles, promotions, goal-setting/scoring, variable pay. To start, you will lead some of these processes and overtime you will have the opportunity to be the project lead on each of our compensation programs.
- Training: Create and deploy compensation content and training for HRBPs, Talent Acquisition, Managers, and Employees; topics will span both foundational and complex aspects of compensation and our compensation programs.
- Pay Transparency: We are on our journey of pay transparency and you will help us implement processes and mechanisms that drive equitable and fair compensation practices. Your work isn’t just implementing though, you’ll also play a big role in educating our recruiting team, People team, Managers, and Employees as we evolve!
- Metrics: Design and build compensation metrics, reports, and tools to inform compensation program decisions and forecast/analyze compensation outcomes.
- Culture and Values: Be an advocate and help champion OpenGov’s culture and values.
Requirements and Preferred Experience
- 6+ years of experience in compensation, consulting, or related field in a high-growth, fast paced environment required
- Experience building compensation programs, managing projects, and scaling processes with company growth
- Strong experience with benchmarking roles with external survey providers, required; experience benchmarking against Radford is preferred
- Strong analytical and strong Excel/Google Sheet skills are required to analyze data and create meaningful, understandable models and reports; ability to see beyond the numbers to drive sound-decision making
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws impacting people operations and compensation
- Experience working with base pay and incentive plans, required
- Experience with global compensation strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience required, a strong background in data/quantitative analysis such as Finance, Statistics, or Economics preferred
- Ability to present and distill complex topics in a concise and meaningful manner to diverse stakeholders
- Must be able to independently problem solve and work under pressure in a deadline driven, rapidly changing organization
- Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in maintaining confidential and sensitive information
- The ability to gain alignment and represent a common point of view across multiple stakeholder
