Job Summary

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join the Optek team. This is an inclusive group of software developers, SRE, QA, and field support staff who value collaboration, creative problem-solving, and continued learning. Optek is responsible for critical hardware and software applications used by 20,000+ field technicians to diagnose and repair customer-impacting issues within the Access Network. Optek also develops and maintains multiple RF monitoring software platforms. These tools provide near real-time analysis of Comcast’s 50 million cable modems and associated network components, detect problems, and notify the correct fix agents.

This SDET position will work with the team to help develop, execute, and maintain a variety of test suites for web UI, APIs and iOS Mobile application. You will play a key role in reducing manual testing and improving code quality by building out automated testing across multiple products.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

• Write and edit automated test code, using the same standards as a Software Engineer, that allows for repeatable, reliable testing solutions to test the wide functionality of products and software in accordance with specifications and technical requirements, maintaining automation codebase in a version control system (GIT, SVN).
• Execute automated test scripts and evaluate results.
• Analyze broken test cases and diagnose and repair to working order.
• Assist in identifying viable test strategies in order to support testing product functionality.
• Create automated testing documentation, including Test Plans, Test Summary Reports etc.
• Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
• Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

• Automated testing: Design, develop, and maintain automated tests (integration, regression, performance, load testing, etc.) using scripting language and functional (manual) testing.  Maintain test code in a version control system.
• Documentation: Create automated testing documentation and metrics, including automation Test Plans/strategies/test data management/Test Summary Reports.
• Troubleshooting: Debug test failures and work with development teams to resolve issues.  Analyze, diagnose, and repair broken test cases.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with Product Owners, Stakeholders, and Engineers to understand software requirements, and define technical test solutions.
• Professionalism: Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance. Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance. Must be able to work outside core business hours and variable schedule(s) as necessary.

Required Skills / Experience:

• Experience with Java & Java Script programming language
• Experience in iOS Mobile Automation (Appium, Xcode, etc…)
• Experience in Selenium and Selenium WebDriver Frameworks
• Experience in any of the Automation Frameworks (TestNG/Cucumber/Gatling/etc…)
• Experience in any of the API Client Tool:  SOAP UI/Postman/Newman/ReadyAPI/etc
• Experience in any of the test management tool ALM Octane/TestRail/HP QC/etc

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity in using CI/CD Tools (Maven/Jenkins/Concourse/Go CD/Git/etc)
• Familiarity with Agile project management principles
• Familiarity in AWS: ECR, Kinesis, SNS, SQS and CloudWatch
• Containerization tools: Docker/Kubernetes/etc
• Database: Dynamo DB/MongoDB/Postgres/Timescale DB/etc
