University Hospitals Partners With Luna To Expand Access To In-Home, In-Person, Outpatient Physical Therapy Services

NASHVILLE, Tenn. and CLEVELAND, Oct. 24, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- University Hospitals (UH), one of the nation's leading healthcare systems based in Cleveland, Ohio, has joined forces with Luna , the leading provider of in-home, in-person outpatient physical therapy, to expand access to services.Patients seeking care will have safe, high quality physical therapy conveniently delivered to them at home. The service, a first for Cleveland, will be available to all residents without a referral required to start. The new collaboration, known as University Hospitals Physical Therapy At Home, will start taking appointments in Q4, 2023.According to a national report from Luna, health systems lose $3.1 billion revenue from physical therapy referral leakage, equating to an average loss of $2,500 per patient.Unlike remote or virtual care, Luna's licensed physical therapists provide 1:1 hands-on care in the convenience of the patient's home. With Luna, patients can request in-home physical therapy via the Luna app . A licensed physical therapist is then scheduled to arrive at the patient's home for a 45-55 minute appointment, and continues the in-person treatment at home for the duration of the care plan. The University Hospitals Physical Therapy At Home service will be covered by most major insurances with the same co-pay cost as facility-based care."By partnering with Luna, we are reducing barriers to access high quality, convenient physical therapy direct to a patient's home," said Bill Benoit, MOT, MBA, FACHE, Chief Operating Officer, UH South Market

Luna Launches New Clinical Intervention Programs To Reduce Msk Total Cost Of Care For Health Plans

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 10, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Luna , the leading provider of in-home, in-person outpatient physical therapy, announces the launch of five new clinical intervention programs to dramatically reduce MSK total cost of care and ensure better patient outcomes. The five new programs serve a variety of needs: from surgical assessments to postoperative care, and are available in 28 states covering 190 million U.S. residents.Leading health plans, including commercial and Medicare Advantage plans, ACOs, MSOs, and value-based care providers, are incorporating these services into their member benefits and patient offerings to reduce surgery costs, improve adherence to care, reduce home health costs, reduce risk of falls, and increase mobility.Alternatives to Luna include facility-based and virtual care, but both of these options face challenges with adherence and engagement. A recent study indicated that outpatient PT patients strongly prefer in-person, in-home care over facility-based or virtual care. The study also revealed that for those in the 55+ age group, virtual care was so unfavorably viewed that patients would rather go to a facility than opt for a virtual solution."Luna's mission is to deliver the highest quality of care in the home, and at the same time, drive down MSK total cost of care for health plans and at-risk providers. This unique and compelling combination ensures adherence and cost-effectiveness with even better patient outcomes," said RaeAnn Grossman, Luna Chief Growth Officer.Luna's five new physical therapy care programs offer health plans the best of all worlds; cost-effective care delivered in-person at home by licensed physical therapists and a high (99.6%) patient satisfaction.Luna's five new clinical intervention programs are:Luna Complete TM dynamically tailored adherence to care enabling patients to complete their therapy with 80%+ achieving their discharge goals.dynamically tailored adherence to care enabling patients to complete their therapy with 80%+ achieving their discharge goals
