Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong guest service and relationship-building abilities.
  • Food safety certification is required or the ability to obtain it.
  • Ability to remain polished and composed in a high-volume environment.
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in warm and humid weather.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must meet applicable Louisiana requirements for alcohol service.
Responsibilities
  • Provide warm, professional, engaging, and personalized beverage service.
  • Welcome and acknowledge guests promptly while anticipating their needs.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all Pool Lounge food and beverage offerings.
  • Prepare cocktails and beverages according to established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of spirits, cocktails, wine, champagne, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Assist guests with beverage selections and provide thoughtful recommendations.
  • Maintain knowledge of food offerings to provide appropriate food and beverage pairing recommendations.
  • Maintain knowledge of glassware, ingredients, garnishes, preparation methods, and presentation standards.
  • Open and properly serve wine and champagne when required.
  • Follow all applicable Louisiana alcohol regulations and responsible beverage service procedures.
  • Monitor guest consumption and exercise appropriate judgment regarding alcohol service.
  • Accurately process guest checks and payments according to hotel procedures.
  • Maintain proper cash-handling and credit-card procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar and surrounding poolside service areas.
  • Coordinate with Servers, Barbacks, Runners, Hosts, Culinary, and leadership to ensure seamless service.
  • Assist with VIP guests, cabana service, special occasions, private events, and hotel functions.
  • Monitor guest needs and communicate requests or concerns promptly to leadership.
  • Maintain awareness of poolside guest comfort and promptly communicate safety or operational concerns to appropriate hotel leadership.
  • Maintain knowledge of Fairmont New Orleans amenities, outlets, events, and local attractions.
  • Participate in pre-shift meetings, beverage tastings, training, and departmental meetings.
  • Assist with opening and closing duties, inventory, stocking, cleaning, and side work.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, health, and pool-area safety procedures.
  • Maintain a polished appearance consistent with Fairmont New Orleans standards.
  • Uphold Fairmont's luxury hospitality standards and New Orleans sense of place.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous bartending experience.
  • Luxury hotel, upscale restaurant, resort, pool, cocktail bar, or lounge experience.
  • Previous point-of-sale and cash-handling experience.
  • Alcohol awareness certification.
