Member Care Consultant

Are you an experienced counselor with case management and assessment skills and a heart for serving God with Southern Baptists’ missionary sending organization?

The International Mission Board, a nonprofit religious organization headquartered in Richmond, VA, is accepting ongoing applications in search of a full-time Member Care Consultant in Rockville, VA.

As a member care consultant, you will participate in the evaluation and selection process of applicants by providing an emotional wellness consultation.  You will work closely with our Global Deployment team and Global Member Care team and others who work with applicants for overseas service.  You’ll guide applicants through application materials, interviews, and assist applicants in arranging follow-up assessments and/or counseling. 

Responsibilities:

• Review applications to flag mental health or emotional issues and use screening tools to assess applicants, providing an emotional wellness consultation.
• Provide guidance and counseling support for applicants from the application process through deployment.
• Consult with appropriate teams regarding any concerns and provide continuity of care for applicants through deployment.
•  Collaborate with our Member Care and Global Deployment teams, including joining them for team meetings, case consultations, conducting seminars and training as needed.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Psychology and/or Counseling
• 3+ years of previous counseling experience with case management and supervision
• Previous experience with clinical assessment, dealing with a broad range of clients
• Ability to commute to Rockville, VA on a regular basis (we can provide relocation support if needed)
• Strong presentation skills for training and public speaking
• Strong knowledge of HIPPA and experience working with confidential medical and counseling materials
• Preferred:
  •  Previous IMB field service
  •  Licensed mental health counselor (LPC, MFT)
