Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree is required, although equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
  • Three years of experience in public or private institutional child or adult care for the type of population the center serves, plus one year of supervisory experience, one course for credit in supervisory skill development and personnel management, or 40 hours of documented in-service training involving supervisory skill development and personnel management is required.
  • American Heart Association CPR certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire and recertified biennially.
  • Training in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer and recertified annually.
  • A valid Wisconsin driver's license is required.
  • The candidate must successfully pass the Caregiver Background Check.
  • The role requires the ability to work effectively with patients, independently, and as a team member.
  • The candidate must be able to apply knowledge of the respective therapeutic modality and use leadership and assertiveness skills.
  • The role requires walking for most of the workday, participation in physically active recreational programming, lifting equipment or supplies weighing up to 30 pounds, and walking two miles without difficulty.
  • Verbal, hearing, written, auditory, numerical, computer, logical-thinking, discretion, organizational, and employee-relations skills are required to perform the duties.
  • The candidate must be physically and mentally able to perform the job duties as verified by a post-employment physical examination.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with oversight of staff and maintain staffing levels to the staffing grid.
  • Ensure all shifts are staffed and can accommodate program capacity.
  • Participate in recruitment activities, including posting positions, hiring, and onboarding new staff.
  • Complete introductory, annual, and 90-day evaluations.
  • Ensure patients attend groups and that absences are documented in the medical record.
  • Oversee patient rounds documentation in medical records and provide Residential Care Specialist training on rounding.
  • Ensure medication protocols are followed and create action plans when a Qstatim is entered into the system.
  • Provide direct cognitive behavioral and other therapeutic services according to clinical standards of care.
  • Support clinical staff in assessment, treatment, and discharge planning for patients receiving cognitive behavioral therapy services.
  • Maintain consistent service delivery for patients receiving cognitive behavioral therapy according to established standards of care.
  • Develop program materials with the manager or director, including handouts, fact sheets, and manuals.
  • Participate in weekly supervision sessions with providers and communicate clinical issues to the manager or director.
  • Provide ongoing training, support, and coaching to staff less familiar with the cognitive behavioral therapy model.
  • Participate in Rogers' program research activities.
  • Assure treatment plans, hierarchies, psychosocial information, and medical records are complete and documented.
  • Conduct periodic medical-record audits for patients receiving cognitive behavioral therapy.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment-team meetings.
  • Communicate with aftercare providers to support continuity of care when warranted.
  • Communicate with the Utilization Review department to provide information needed to facilitate payment for services when warranted.
  • Maintain communication with clinical supervisors regarding cognitive behavioral programming.
  • Coordinate with managed-care companies and the utilization review manager or lead as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of patient and employee safety policies, procedures, and emergency or evacuation plans.
  • Complete daily safety rounds, including rounds-board, sanitation, Residential Care Center and Community Based Residential Facility code, door-lock, and alarm checks.
  • Complete maintenance reports and injury-related Qstatim documentation, and demonstrate an appropriate response.
  • Maintain knowledge of life-sustaining techniques and emergency first aid.
  • Maintain patient and patient-record safety and confidentiality.
  • Evaluate residents, communicate observed safety behaviors to staff, and intervene appropriately to maintain resident safety.
  • Report pertinent information verbally or in writing to physicians and treatment teams, distinguishing situations requiring immediate attention from those that can be postponed.
  • Communicate with the program manager, director, and treatment-team members regarding resident treatment and care.
  • Complete shift-end reports with pertinent and factual information.
  • Facilitate completion of physician requests and orders.
  • Assist staff with medical-record delinquencies.
  • Conduct frequent census check-ins, identify barriers to maximum census, and review scheduled discharges and admissions for efficient scheduling.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation.
  • Approve paid-time-off requests and payroll-management-system timecard adjustments and approvals.
  • Provide new-employee orientation and training.
  • Provide ongoing education, training, coaching sessions, and feedback to existing staff.
  • Conduct audits and provide feedback.
  • Engage in simple disciplinary processes for staff as needed.
  • Provide immediate feedback regarding service delivery and best practices, and report performance observations to employees' managers.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings, in-services, and floor-team meetings, and maintain accurate in-service attendance records.
  • Participate in performance-improvement projects for residential-related issues.
  • Interact with residents, family members, and significant others to provide customer service.
  • Communicate program goals to staff and demonstrate measurable goal achievement.
  • Maintain department policies and procedures and incorporate Joint Commission and State of Wisconsin requirements.
  • Educate new staff regarding applicable regulations and requirements.
  • Support and train student interns as directed.
  • Comply with Joint Commission, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act, 42 Code of Federal Regulations, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in in-services, seminars, committees, team meetings, and team projects.
  • Prepare agendas and minutes and contribute to team projects.
  • Learn and apply the Rogers Operating System model to department activities.
  • Participate in or create Rogers Operating System teams that lead to improvement.
  • Demonstrate punctuality, preparedness, effective communication, and organizational skills.
  • Communicate professionally, resolve peer issues constructively, and communicate concerns with solutions.
  • Attend outside seminars for professional growth.
  • Comply with hospital Human Resources, Infection Control, and Employee Health policies and programs.
  • Facilitate or receive clinical supervision as required by state and federal regulations.
  • Complete program-specific competencies and training requirements.
  • Support treatment approaches to recovery in daily interactions with residents.
  • Act as a resource for residents regarding program philosophies.
  • Ensure the program schedule is followed and report deviations to the manager, director, or primary counseling staff.
  • Complete evacuation assessments, daily flow sheets, and treatment progress notes.
  • Monitor supplies, complete restocking documents, and obtain manager or director signatures for supplies ordered.
  • Assist residents with groups, activities, appointments, and transportation arrangements.
  • Participate in and provide input on resident schedule changes.
  • Participate in groups and experiential sessions.
  • Plan and facilitate education groups, lectures, leisure groups, evening groups, and weekend activities.
  • Use group dynamics and related treatment techniques effectively.
  • Participate in family-weekend programming.
  • Conduct one-on-one sessions as needed.
  • Provide training to staff and community resources.
  • Participate in outside marketing activities as directed.
