Requirements
  • U.S. citizenship and an active Department of War Secret Clearance are required.
  • A Department of Defense 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification, such as Security+ CE, SSCP, GSEC, or equivalent, is required.
  • At least three years of relevant IT experience with hands-on administration of Red Hat Enterprise Linux or derivative distributions, including Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux, or CentOS, is required.
  • Experience writing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Bash scripts for systems administration and automation is required.
  • Experience installing, configuring, patching, and maintaining Linux operating systems and enterprise services is required.
  • Experience troubleshooting Linux operating systems, applications, and system performance issues in enterprise environments is required.
  • Familiarity with Linux user-account management, permissions, file systems, process management, and system logging is required.
  • The ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, self-start tasks, and adapt to rapidly changing mission requirements is required.
  • Strong technical writing skills and demonstrated experience creating and maintaining technical documentation, procedures, and system diagrams are required.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and security and proactively identify and resolve issues to maintain operational readiness.
  • Install, configure, patch, and upgrade Linux operating systems, applications, and supporting services in accordance with security and compliance requirements.
  • Perform system hardening in accordance with Department of Defense Security Technical Implementation Guides and other cybersecurity mandates.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, authentication services, and access controls across enterprise Linux environments.
  • Configure and maintain enterprise services such as DNS, DHCP, NTP, LDAP, SSH, web services, and file-sharing solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex system, application, network, and performance-related issues across multiple environments.
  • Support vulnerability remediation by analyzing security scan results and implementing corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain automation solutions using Bash, Ansible, or other scripting and configuration-management tools.
  • Perform system backups, disaster-recovery activities, and continuity-of-operations support to ensure mission resilience.
  • Support virtualization and cloud-based infrastructure technologies, including VMware and Red Hat Virtualization or similar platforms.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, networking, and engineering teams to implement system enhancements and resolve operational issues.
  • Maintain compliance with Department of Defense, Army, and organizational policies, procedures, and security requirements.
  • Evaluate, test, and implement new technologies and system improvements as part of infrastructure modernization initiatives.
  • Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, and after-action reporting for system disruptions and security events.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior administrators and support personnel when needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense, Army, or other federal government environments is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense Risk Management Framework, Security Technical Implementation Guide implementation, and vulnerability remediation using ACAS, SCAP, or similar tools is preferred.
  • Experience with configuration-management and automation tools such as Ansible, Satellite, or Git is preferred.
  • Experience integrating Linux systems with Active Directory, LDAP, SSSD, or enterprise identity-management solutions is preferred.
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere or Red Hat Virtualization is preferred.
  • Familiarity with biometrics, biometric matching systems, and biometric data standards is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of web technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Apache, and Nginx, is preferred.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical or high-availability environments is preferred.
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator, Red Hat Certified Engineer, or equivalent Linux certification is preferred.
