Requirements
  • A PhD or equivalent experience in RNA Biology, Cell Biology, Stem Cell Biology, Bioengineering, Synthetic Biology, Developmental Biology, or a related field is required.
  • Hands-on experience delivering RNA into mammalian cells in various formats is required.
  • Experience with RNA delivery technologies, including lipid nanoparticles, ligand conjugates, exosomes, and electroporation, as well as readouts such as flow cytometry, imaging, quantitative polymerase chain reaction, reporter assays, or RNA sequencing, is required.
  • Experience delivering RNA or nanoparticles into complex culture systems is required.
  • Experience optimizing delivery parameters such as dose, formulation, timing, repeat dosing, expression duration, toxicity, and biological effect is required.
  • Strong experimental design, troubleshooting, documentation, and data interpretation skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Develop RNA delivery workflows for payload expression in different cell types and culture setups.
  • Apply RNA delivery strategies to improve and accelerate the differentiation platform.
  • Optimize RNA format, delivery chemistry and formulation, dose, timing, repeat delivery, expression, viability, and biological activity.
  • Build assays to measure delivery efficiency, target expression, and differentiation outcomes.
  • Support screening workflows for RNA constructs, genes of interest, delivery conditions, and combinatorial perturbations.
  • Collaborate across differentiation, cell engineering, and computational teams.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with induced pluripotent stem cells, embryonic stem cells, primary cells, differentiating cells, or other difficult-to-transfect cell types.
  • Experience using RNA-based differentiation approaches.
  • Experience with different RNA format design, production, purification, characterization, or delivery.
  • Experience with medium- or high-throughput screens, open reading frame libraries, combinatorial perturbations, or barcoded workflows.
  • Familiarity with single-cell RNA sequencing or related single-cell approaches.
  • Familiarity with developmental biology, reproductive biology, germ cell development, ovarian biology, or organoid systems.

Conception.bio develops fertility treatments by turning a person’s blood cells into mature egg cells using induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) technology. Blood is collected, reprogrammed into iPSCs, and guided to become viable eggs that can be used for reproduction, with optional genetic screening of embryos. It differentiates itself by producing patient-derived eggs from blood and selling directly to consumers, bypassing traditional clinic pathways. The goal is to broaden access to fertility options by enabling later-life parenting and embryo genetic screening through a patient-derived egg platform with a direct-to-consumer model.

What believers are saying

  • July 2026 breakthrough validates Conception's platform and attracts fertility investors.
  • PitchBook listed $38M raised by 2025; company now claims >$60M.
  • Fertility demand stays huge: age-related infertility and cancer survivors need better options.

What critics are saying

  • July 2026: Conception still lacks full antral follicles and clinical-trial readiness.
  • Safety studies and animal testing remain mandatory, delaying human use for years.
  • Ethical backlash or FDA restraint on IVG could freeze commercialization entirely.

What makes Conception unique

  • July 2026: Conception generated first early human egg cells from stem cells.
  • Conception uses blood-draw iPSCs and miniature ovaries, not donor eggs.
  • Berkeley team spans 11-50 employees and claims >$60M backing.
