Job Summary:
Ascot’s IT department is seeking a motivated Senior Technical Lead to join the Application Delivery team and report to VP, Technical Lead. This individual leads the delivery of our strategic projects with his technical acumen and strong delivery capabilities. They will get to be close partners with application portfolio owners and will ensure the design, build, testing, and continuous improvement of implemented solutions meet the needs of business stakeholders. This role also needs to work closely with Ascot’s Architecture community to refine our technology capabilities and its future reference architecture. This role will be in the office with a hybrid work schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Design, development, and deployment of technology solutions to streamline and automate insurance-related processes across the insurance value chain.
- Foster collaboration between business and technology teams through a consultative approach, ensuring transparent communication and a shared vision.
- Contribute to reducing technical debt by advising on architectural roadmaps and suggestions on new technologies.
- Lead the resolution of cross-dependencies in complex initiatives from a technical standpoint thereby helping in seamless execution.
- Manages technical risks, blockers and challenges proactively, ensuring timely delivery on commitments and maintaining full stakeholder transparency.
- Coach and develop technology team members who can execute on all technology frameworks.
- Ability to work within a geographically diverse team and be a good team player.
- Assist with additional ad hoc projects as required.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience as a technical lead and driving the delivery of technical artifacts with quality.
- Overall 10+ years of experience in the Information Technology industry.
- Knowledge of common enterprise applications and integration design patterns is a must.
- Experience/exposure to enterprise application integration strategies and related technologies (e.g. Azure Integration Services, MuleSoft or Boomi).
- Good knowledge of and evidence of exploiting at least one major Cloud platform for the delivery of cloud-native solutions (e.g. Azure, AWS or GCP).
- Experience working across the software development lifecycle using both Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of development best practices, continuous integration, and automated deployment processes.
- Ability to build good relationships with internal and external stakeholders and colleagues.
- Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to apply knowledge of best practices and a structured approach to analysis to solve challenges.
- Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
- Preferred experience or knowledge of: Business Rules Engine within the P&C industry, Forms Configuration for Insurance Products, REST APIs, Service Oriented.
- Architecture, Event Driven Architectures, Microservice-based/API-centric architectures, TDD, BDD, Unit Testing.
- Technical education and/or recognized industry certifications.

Compensation
Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, and skills. The base pay is just one component of Ascot’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus and other forms of discretionary compensation awarded by the Company.
The salary for this position in New York and Chicago Metro area is $160,000-$175,000
