Requirements
  • At least 10 years of experience is preferred, including several years focused specifically on data center networking and technologies.
  • SME-level understanding and experience with dynamic routing protocols, including OSPF and BGP.
  • SME-level understanding of data center technologies.
  • Experience analyzing TCP and UDP application flows using external network analyzers and built-in network switch and router diagnostic tools.
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense Security Technical Implementation Guides and software-defined wide area networking.
  • Experience with Microsoft Visio and documenting network architectures and application flows.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical ideas through presentations, documentation, and meetings.
  • Ability to learn and evaluate new technologies.
  • Ability to manage projects from start to finish, with initiative, time management, and attention to detail.
  • An active TS/SCI security clearance is required, along with willingness to obtain a CI polygraph.
Responsibilities
  • Support the customer's data center network, application delivery, and network security environments through operations and maintenance, system integration and deployment, and solution development and design.
  • Provide Tier III subject-matter-expert support within the incident management process.
  • Work independently with project stakeholders, system owners, project managers, and technical staff to deploy or enhance IT solutions.
  • Coordinate with project staff on solution development and deployment while managing project aspects within the applicable technical area of responsibility.
  • Collaborate with system engineers across teams and disciplines to ensure solutions meet technical goals and are deployed within established timelines.
  • Evaluate new network technologies and recommend their integration into the existing network.
  • Develop and implement methodologies for analyzing, testing, and supporting LAN and WAN networks.
  • Diagnose hardware and software problems and replace defective components.
  • Operate and maintain networks, including hardware, systems software, applications software, and configurations.
  • Integrate systems with the existing performance and availability management framework.
  • Schedule and coordinate system changes within the established change management framework.
  • Evaluate new system hardware and software for optimal integration with existing hardware and compliance with customer standards.
  • Prepare technical proposals for engineering review boards regarding the addition of new network technologies.
  • Perform upgrades in accordance with the existing network architecture.
  • Review user requests for network upgrades or additions, assess their impact on network performance, and advise on practical technical approaches.
  • Perform long-term operations and maintenance activities, including Tier III troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Interface with external Tier IV support staff and vendors as required for problem resolution.
  • Use complex network analysis tools to identify and correct network problems while maintaining associated logs and records.
  • Prepare troubleshooting procedures for restoring the network to optimal performance levels.
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures for technical support staff.
  • Provide fault management for the network and support performance management functions.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with EVPN, VXLAN, Cisco vPC, ACI, F5 load balancing, and RSTP.
  • Professional or expert-level certifications such as CCNP, F5-CTS, or JNCIP.
  • CCIE, F5-CSE, or JNCIE certification.
  • Experience with Cisco, F5, Juniper, and Palo Alto hardware and operating systems.
