Requirements
- Product Development experience in molecular diagnostic equipment and/or instruments, and thorough understanding of the supply chain and related costs
- Proven skills in customer and internal communication of complex technical concepts
- High level abilities to collaborate, influence teams, mentor others, and build relationships
- Understanding of technical issues related to the Life Sciences market, with knowledge of optics, fluidics, thermodynamics, regulatory and/or human factors
- Comfortable with common molecular biology concepts and laboratory parlance, able to facilitate communication between engineering and scientific customers
- Understanding of industry issues related to the Life Sciences market, including market drivers and leading companies, regulatory issues, development timelines and business models
- Knowledge of the EMS industry and its relationship with the Life Sciences market
- Excellent communication skills to convey key messages concisely and an emphasis on active listening to ensure appropriate understanding of customer needs
- Familiarity with the product development process, including knowledge in the various specifications that drive the formal development, qualification and/or certification of products
- Familiarity with project management processes and engineering design tools for software, electronics and mechanical
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a related field is required
- Experience in Life Sciences and/or medical instrument electronics design or product development environment is required, with at least five years' experience highly preferred
- Fluency in Life Sciences and related biological terminology highly preferred
- Frequent travel may be required to meet the needs of the business (estimated 35-50%)
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the definition of the strategy for the Life Sciences business, including internal initiatives and external activities
- Guide customers with concepts and technology selection, and aid Plexus' engineering services and manufacturing to comprehensively understand client's needs
- Contribute to promotional and branding efforts in the Life Sciences space
- Contribute to the identification and leveraging of Life Sciences subject matter knowledge in the organization
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Plexus engineering capabilities, our design and development process, and the overall Plexus brand, effectively communicating this to our customers
- Assist internal teams in the creation of compelling and customer-aligned project proposals
- Establish and develop strong long-term relationships with Plexus customers, recognize their needs, and engage internal resources to develop and present Plexus solutions that create mutual business wins for the customer and Plexus
- Work as part of a cross-functional team that includes engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, cost analysis, financial and legal experts to develop solution proposals for customers
- Represent Plexus Engineering Solutions as a Subject Matter Expert within the Life Sciences market space, including knowledge of OEMs, competitors, market trends and dynamics, regulatory environment, and core technology needs
- Identify and advocate for engineering capability requirements necessary to meet the evolving needs of customers
