Requirements
  • The candidate must build and sustain strong professional relationships with surgeons and clinical stakeholders.
  • The candidate must be comfortable and professional working in the operating room environment, including real-time troubleshooting during live surgical cases.
  • The candidate must have strong clinical aptitude and be able to discuss complex anatomy, including the corneal endothelium, vitreoretinal interface, and trabecular meshwork, at a high level.
  • The candidate must be able to manage a sales territory, analyze market data, and consistently meet performance expectations.
  • The candidate must be able to present compelling business and financial value propositions to clinical and executive audiences.
  • The candidate must maintain required credentials, vaccinations, and compliance standards for clinical access.
  • The candidate must be willing and able to travel extensively within the assigned region.
  • The candidate must spend regular time in the field, including 4.5 days per week in the territory and 3.5 days per week in the operating room.
Responsibilities
  • Build long-term, trust-based relationships with surgeons, operating-room staff, office teams, and Key Opinion Leaders.
  • Serve as the primary clinical consultant for accounts, with deep knowledge of procedures and equipment.
  • Provide hands-on operating-room support during surgical cases, including equipment setup and immediate troubleshooting.
  • Cover cases by ensuring required products are stocked and guiding surgeons and staff in real time during procedures.
  • Conduct in-service training for surgeons and surgical teams on company products, including new launches.
  • Train operating-room technicians, nurses, and staff to support product use during cases.
  • Analyze market data to identify growth opportunities and manage territory strategy to achieve monthly and quarterly sales goals.
  • Increase surgical conversion rates, product pull-through, and market share by converting competitive accounts.
  • Present data-driven business cases to practices using financial modeling and SPIRO, Pipeline, and Close reports.
  • Engage executive-level stakeholders, including C-suite leaders, chief medical officers, and supply-chain decision-makers.
  • Support and participate in complex, multi-year contract negotiations.
  • Maintain required hospital credentials and compliance documentation to ensure uninterrupted operating-room access.
  • Adhere to company, hospital, and regulatory requirements and uphold ethical standards.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in medical-device, surgical, or capital-equipment sales.
  • Knowledge of ophthalmology and/or ophthalmic expertise.
  • Prior success converting competitive accounts and supporting product trials.
  • Confidence engaging senior healthcare executives and procurement leaders.
